Chapter 18
Avery's Pov
Finally being able to see Kohl's eyes, I felt relieved. Relieved that he would be okay. Relieved that his father didn't strike him down again. Relieved that he was here with me again.
"What even happened?" He asked
"Well, after John stabbed you, I found you in the basement. The paramedics rushed you to the hospital. You lost a lot of blood and they had to do surgery but they said you'll be fine." I explained
"And what happened to John, my dad and Muscles McGee?" I asked
"Well, your dad, John and David, have been arrested." I said
"Wait, David!?" He asked shocked
"Yeah? Do you know him?" I asked
"Way to keep it in the family," he muttered
"What?" I questioned
"David. He's my older half brother. No wonder he works for my dad. He was a complete chicken shit when we were growing up. He's a coward. He can't stick up for himself. So it's no wonder he's still working for him." He explained
"Wait, how many siblings do you have"
"Well, there's David, he's my half brother on my dads side from before he met my mom, then there's me and the twins and then the baby" he explained
"You never told me about David" I sighed
"I haven't seen him since before my dad left. That was four years ago I guess. He's been kind of irrelevant for a while now," he sighed
"Oh," I muttered looking down. I honestly had no idea how to respond to that. How do you grow up with someone, your own brother, and then just say that they're irrelevant? I guess it has been a few years now, but even with my own brothers, I wouldn't say they're irrelevant after not seeing them for a while. But that's the difference between my family and his. Kohl only watches out for the ones he really cares about. Of course he'd stand up for someone being treated unfairly, but if he really cares about that person, he really tries to make sure they're always protected, or being watched over. It's one of the things I love about him.
"Ave, you and the twins don't have to stay here. You can go home," he said
"No, I want to stay, and I bet they do too. We aren't going anywhere," I sighed
"Then go back to sleep babe," he whispered kissing my head
"Okay, but so should you," I smiled, leaning my head back onto his chest, closing my eyes and slowly drifting back off to sleep, only this time, I wasn't worried, and could sleep peacefully.
In the morning when the twins woke up, to say they were excited to see him was an understatement. Kyleigh flew into her older brothers arms, tears flowing down her cheeks. Sam, joined them in the hug, tucking his head under Kohl's chin. The love, happiness, and relief evident in their actions. The love these two had for their big brother was unreal. They looked up to him. He was their hero. He's their safe haven. Because with him, all they feel is safe.
And that's all I feel when I'm with him too.
~Authors Note~
I'm not even going to make excuses guys. But I will tell you this. Writing these stories has started to feel like a chore now. I didn't want it to feel like that. When I started writing it was just to get some of the ideas in my head out. So I'm taking a break, even though I hardly ever post.
I'm putting this story on hold until I can get my writing skills a lot better because right now, they suck. I want this story to be great for you guys.
I hope I wont loose readers because if this. Know that I might still be posting every now and then, because these next few chapters will be the last and I want them to be great. Thank you guys for understanding!
Much love,
Lauren. I love you all.
