Chapter 2 - Uh thanks?
Avery P.O.V. ~
I made my way down the back ways of the streets of my small town. I plugged my headphones in and blasted 'Here's To Never Growing Up' by Avril Lagvine. I just starred at the ground and kept walking. I heard footsteps behind me but didn't pay any attention to it.
My phone suddenly beeped, making my music stop. I grumbled and checked the text message. I turned my music back on and answered it.
(M: mom)
(A: Avery)
M: where are you!?!?
A: chill I'm almost home
M: hurry up
A: ok ok relax
M: goodbye Avery
I sighed and continued on my walk. I really should take the school bus but I prefer to walk. I know it takes longer, but I like the fresh air and the streets of this tiny town. I suddenly felt a hand cover my mouth and shove me against the wall.
"Well hello there princess. You look amazing. Where you headed?" A man asked me keeping me pinned to the wall. I let out a blood curling scream in hopes someone would hear me. He quickly covered my mouth again and looked me dead in the eye.
"Now now. No need for that" he smirked. I stood there tears threatening to fall as I thrashed around trying to get out of his grip.
"P-please let me go" I whispered
"Aww but where's the fun in that?" He questioned
"Please" I whispered. Suddenly, he was ripped off of me. I felt another figure come stand beside me. Oh please not another rapist.
"Don't worry sweetheart, I'm not gonna rape you" the boy smirked. I looked at him and realized it was Josh. Josh and I go way back. Our parents are best friends so we used to hang out a lot. Now, when his parents come over, he doesn't come as much as he used to.
"What are you doing here Josh?" I asked
"Now that's not any way to talk to a friend now is it?" He smirked
"Fine. How are you Joshy?" I asked smugly using his nick-name from when we were like two.
"Just peachy Avey" he smirked using MY old nick-name. I chuckled.
"Who's your friend?" I asked pointing at his friend who's currently beating up the rapist.
"Oh. That's Kohl. It's spelt K-O-H-L" he replied. So that's his name!
When Kohl was finished with that guy, he stood up and came over to me.
"Hey Avery" he smirked
"Hi" I smiled
"Uh, thanks" I said looking out at the ground
"No problem" he smiled
"C'mon Ave, we'll walk you home" Josh said taking my wrist and pulling me away.
"Josh. Josh. Josh. Joshy. Joshhhhhhh" I wined
"What?" He snapped. I looked at him, looked at my wrist, and looked at him again.
"Oh, sorry" he smiled letting go.
"S'alright" I said smiling at him.
"So Ave. I haven't seen you in a while? How's life" Josh laughed
"Wait. You two know each other?" Kohl questioned
"Yeah. Our parents are best friends, making us childhood best friends" Josh smirked throwing an arm around my shoulders. I smiled. I didn't shake his arm off because it's just a joke and we're friends so I don't mind.
