Ava Barnes

Wakanda

As we approached the barrier of Wakanda, James took my hand in his and squeezed it out of excitement.

"This will be good for us." He smiled.

"It has been a good 3 months since we met." I smiled back.

"So it has." He winked.

We crossed through the barrier into a beautiful city. 

"Your majesty this place is beautiful!" I exclaimed as I looked out the window.

"You will be safe here. We should have Mr. Barnes healed up soon." T'challa replied. 

I smiled. I couldn't stop smiling. I was so excited to see this city and get to know the people. Once we landed, T'challa opened the hatch and we started to walk out onto the platform. 

"Welcome to Wakanda." A girl told us. 

"This is my sister Shuri. She will be helping Mr. Barnes." T'challa explained.

"Thank you!" I replied to her. 

T'challa escorted us into a huge building. He took us into an elevator and we went up to a floor a few above the skyline. The doors opened and it was some sort of lab. There was a chamber that looked similar to the one Hydra used on James.

"Is this how you will help him?" I asked. 

"We are going to put Mr. Barnes under ice until we can figure out how to reverse his trauma." Shuri explained.

"How long should that take?" I questioned. 

"A few months. It will be over with before you know it." She told us. 

I looked at James with sad eyes. 

"Hey it will be okay." He assured me. "I will be better in no time." 

"I know." I pouted. "I'm going to miss you though"

"You are always welcome to come visit him while he is under." Shuri offered. "Even though he will be under ice he will still be able to hear you." 

I smiled at the reassurance. 

"See it will be fine." James told me. "You can get to know the people here in the meantime."

I nodded. Shuri started prepping him to go under. She took the remaining parts of his metal arm off and bandaged him up. She pressed a button and the chamber opened.

"Alright Mr. Barnes." She started. "Are you ready?"

"Give me a moment to love my girl." James smiled.

James walked over to me and took my hands in his. 

"I'll be okay doll." He told me. "I'll be back as soon as Shuri figures this out."

I smiled. 

"I know." I replied. 

He kissed me softly on the lips and turned to the chamber. 

"I love you Ava." He said. 

I blushed as tears built up in my eyes.

"I love you too Buck." I replied.

He looked surprised to my response. But climbed in and rested against the backing. Shuri closed the chamber and started the process.

"He will be under in a few seconds." She told me. "I will figure this out as fast as I can." 

A man came in and took my arm. 

"Would you like a tour of the city?" He asked. 

"I'd love that." I replied. 

The man took me around the city showing me all the markets and places to see. After the tour he took me back to the tower. 

"Ms. Shuri will show you to your room." He told me. 

Shuri stood at a table studying Buck's files. 

"Good news Ms. Ava." She told me. "Mr. Barnes will be getting some electro-therapy and will be administered fluids and nutrients regularly. He should be out in a couple of weeks." 

"Thank you so much." I smiled. "This means a lot to me."

Shuri motioned for me to follow her. She took me across the hall into a huge room. 

"I made arrangements for you to stay in this room." She explained. "I thought you would enjoy it seeming as it is close to Mr. Barnes."

"This is perfect, thank you." I said.

Shuri left the room and went back into the lab where Bucky was kept. I took a few deep breaths and started to relax. I walked over and sat in the bed. As I looked around I noticed mine and Buck's things were set against the far wall. I got up and walked to grab Buck's bag. I opened it up and grabbed out a big t shirt of his to wear to bed. I took off my shoes and slid my jeans off. I pulled my shirt over my head and replaced it with Buck's. I laid down into the center of the bed and curled up. I drifted off into an amazing sleep.
