I was sitting downstairs at the table, minding my own business, not bothering anyone, just drinking my tea and reading a book when my brother texted me.

I spit my tea halfway across the table and ran upstairs. I was hoping I'd have enough time to leave before they showed up but that dream was shattered when the doorbell rang. I quickly grabbed the key to the library from off my desk and went to lock it. No way was I about to have a repeat of last time.

I could hear the door open downstairs along with Keiji and dad talking. Taking a deep breath I centered myself for what was about to come. "Y/n!" Keiji pulled me into a hug which I returned, "I missed you" He said when he pulled away. "I missed you too" "Not the whispers again Y/n. What have I told you?" My mom snapped at me.

"Sorry" My voice was still pretty quiet. Keiji was about to say something when my mom groaned in disgust. "I see you got a cat," I noticed Samson by her feet and quickly picked him up. "Yes we did," My dad said as he pet the cat in my arms.

"Y/n! What did you do to your hair?" She said as she finally took notice of me. "I thought it looked nice..." She stifled a laugh. "Y/n how about you and Keiji go up to your room. Take Samson with you." I nodded at my dad and made my way up the stairs.

"I'm sorry," Keiji said as we walked to my room. I shrugged my shoulders as I opened the door. Samson jumped out of my arms and joined Oliver who was laying on my beanbag. I walked over and sat on my bed while Keiji looked around.

"Your room is nice. Well, the entire house is, you did a good job." "Thanks" I mumbled. The two of us caught up for a little bit before mom called us back downstairs. We found our parents in the kitchen and they had just made lunch. Mom was setting the table while dad was putting the food on it. I think the last time we all sat down for a meal as a family was over a year ago.

Keiji sat down next to me, while dad was across from him and mom was across from me. Mom dished up everyone's food but did mine last. When she handed me my plate I noticed there wasn't a lot of food on it. "Thank you mom," Keiji said. "Thanks" I guess she didn't hear me since she decided to make a comment.

" Y/n be like your brother. At least he has manners" She scoffed. "I said th-" "Don't talk back" I ate my food silently after that. When I was finished, I reached for the spoon handle to get some more but my mom pulled it away from me. "I don't think you need any more"

I sighed quietly but nodded. I was getting up to take my plate to the sink when I accidentally tipped my glass over, causing it to spill across the table and onto my mom. "You are so EXHAUSTING Y/N! WHY CAN'T YOU DO ANYTHING RIGHT?!"

She had finally snapped and her sudden outburst caused me to drop my plate, which broke into several pieces when it hit the ground. She let out an angry exhale, "My point exactly. I don't know how anyone puts up with you."

"MOM!" Keiji yelled from where he sat. "Now that's enough M/n!" "DON'T YELL AT ME! SHE NEVER LEARNS." She turned to me. "WHY COULDN'T YOU HAVE BEEN LIKE YOUR BROTHER?! AFTER EVERYTHING I DID FOR YOU" She shouted as she threw her napkin down on the table.

I stared at her blankly while tears started to flood my eyes. "Oh not the tears," She said as she rolled her eyes. "That's pathetic Y/n. Grow up for once." Keiji got up and walked towards me but I backed away. My lip started to quiver as the hot tears poured down my face. I quickly left the kitchen and grabbed the car keys. I slipped my shoes on and ran out of my house, slamming the door behind me.

I got into the car and immediately started to break down. I smacked my hands against the wheel and yelled in an attempt to take out my frustration. My loud sobs tore up my throat but were hushed when I turned the car on and turned the music up. I backed out of the driveway as quickly as I could. As I was driving away I saw Keiji come running out of the house, hoping to catch me. "Y/N! WAIT! PLEASE!" He shouted. But I was already gone.

~Third Person POV~

Keiji ran his hands through his hair anxiously as he watched his sister drive away. He couldn't help but think it was partially his fault. When he turned back to go inside he saw the neighbors staring at him, with worried expressions.

The entire Sugawara family had just witnessed what happened. Keiji ignored it and went back inside, slamming the door behind him. Y/n didn't return home for the remainder of the night, but her household was bustling with the sound of shouting.
