Sorry this took so long! I struggled a little with it ❤️

The worst day of your life was the day that Demi overdosed. Your heart had actually been ripped from your chest. You sat in her hospital room, with the rest of her family for hours. You watched her blood come from her body and get filtered through a machine. Her face looked white and if it wasn't for the heart monitor attached to her, you would have assumed she was dead. You had silent tears pouring down your cheeks as you watched her, not able to think of anything but Demi eventually waking up. She needs to wake up.

You stepped out of the room with Matthew just after 11 and headed to get some coffees. You walked in silence there and back. You didn't have anything to say, the silent comfort that you got from each other was enough.

You didn't expect to find Wilmer sat next to the bed when you got back to her room and your heart ached at the sight of him. She's always loved him. Even now she talks about how much he means to her. How much she wishes they hadn't broke up. He glanced back as the door opened, allowing you to see that his hand was wrapped around hers. You turned your eyes to Dianna and Eddie, handing them their coffees before you excused yourself and stepped from the room. Even as Matthew called you back, you continued down the corridor and into the girls restroom. You leant against the counter, sobs overtaking your body. You were enveloped into someone's embrace and by his scent, you knew it was Matthew. He cradled you against him, his fingers running through your hair as you cried together. You finally released all the emotions you had been holding in.

You sat outside Demi's hospital room until Wilmer stepped out. You don't know what made him but he decided to slide down the wall beside you, taking a seat on the cold floor. A silence settled around you, his hands clasped together in his lap. You stared off into the distance, your arms still wrapped around your knees.

"I know you don't like me."

"It's not that" and it wasn't. It wasn't that you didn't like Wilmer, it was that you didn't like how much Demi seemed to love him. Why can't she love you like that? Why can't she see how much you really, truly and deeply love her? "I love her, Wilmer" you turned to him, watching as a light smile formed on his face.

"I know."

"How?"

"It's obvious" he glanced briefly away from you and swallowed, the smile remaining on his face. "I know from the way that you look at her. I've known for a while" you bit down on your lower lip as your chin began to tremble. He wrapped his arm around you and you actually welcomed the comfort as you leant into his side. Your tears poured down your cheeks as you lay your head on his shoulder. "She's going to be fine, Y/N" how you hope for that to be true.

You cried on Wilmer's shoulder for what felt like hours but was only in fact a couple of minutes. The door to Demi's room opened and Matthew stepped out.

"She's awake" you shot up off the floor, Wilmer close behind you. You stepped into the room, crying with relief as your eyes landed on Demi. She still looked insanely pale but her eyes were open. You nibbled on your lower lip, silent tears flowing down your cheeks as you stepped up to her. You slid your hand into hers, your heart warming as her fingers wrapped around yours.

"Hi Demi."

"Y/N?" you lowered yourself down into the chair beside the bed.

"Yeah" she turned in your general direction but her eyes never met yours, they seemed to look straight through you.

"I-I can't see you. I can't see anything" you turned to Dianna who was being comforted by Eddie, silent tears streaming down both of their cheeks. Maddie was being comforted by Dallas and Sirah. Matthew had left the room altogether and Wilmer was stood by the door. You turned back to Demi and leant into her, a sad smile formed on your face as you gently caressed the side of her face.

"You're going to be okay. You're a warrior, Demi" your heart broke as a tear rolled its way down her cheek. You quickly wiped it away with the pad of your thumb. "We're all here for you, Dem."

"Wh-Who's we?" her voice ripped at your heart. It was so weak and husky.

"Your mom and dad, Maddie, Dallas, Sirah, Matthew, me and..." you glanced briefly back at Wilmer. "And Wilmer" you turned back to her as a look of surprise covered her features.

"Wil-Wilmer?"

"Hi Nena" her lips ever so slightly twitched at the corners.

"I'm sorry" those words ripped at your heart, but none of you knew who she was talking to. "I-I'm sorry for everything" Dianna moved herself away from Eddie and leant into her.

"You don't need to apologise, Baby Girl" Dianna's voice was laced with emotion. "You don't need to be sorry" she began to caress the side of Demi's face.

The hours slowly turned into days, the days slowly turned into weeks. You spent every day at the hospital with Demi, holding her hand as she endured numerous tests.

"You did it" you praised as she managed to read the sentence. A wide smile spread across your face from the pride you felt.

"You're doing good, Demi."

"My head hurts" the nurse lightly smiled.

"I'll leave you to get some sleep" you flashed her a tiny smile as she turned to leave the room, leaving you and Demi alone. You all take it in turns to spend a day with Demi, none of you want her to be alone. You turned back to Demi as she relaxed back against her pillows, her eyes on you as her fingers played with yours.

"You better write to me while I'm away" you lightly laughed at her smirk.

"I'll write every day" she giggled and your heart soared at the sound. "You'll be sick of me by the time you get out" she shook her head, her eyes locking with yours. She brought her hand up and placed it on your neck. She lightly caressed your cheek with her thumb and then slowly began to lean in. You didn't think you would ever do this. When you thought about kissing Demi, you always imagined how her lips against yours would feel, you never thought you would reject her. You leant away from her, your heart breaking as her eyes flashed with sadness. "It isn't that I don't want to, Demi, because I do, but you need to be focusing on yourself not on a relationship" her lips ever so slightly twitched at the corners. "You focus on you and I promise that we can talk about us in a couple of months, that's if you still want to."

"I love you" that sentence made you feel alive.

"I love you too. Now get some sleep."

"Can I please have a kiss?" she relaxed back against the bed, her lips forming into a pout. Her puppy eyes pleaded with yours and you were finding her difficult to resist. You shook your head as your lips twitched into a smirk. "Please? I'm going away for a couple of months. I need something to get me through it. I need to remember what I have when I come home."

"You need to be focusing on yourself."

"Please?" you rolled your eyes but ultimately you caved and you leant in to press a lingering kiss to her plump lips.

"Now get some sleep" you watched as she slowly dropped to sleep, smiling at the way her hand remained locked around yours. Everything about her made you fall harder in love.
