Chapter Twelve: Battered and Bruised

The sound of a door being swung open startles James, giving me the opportunity to get away from him.

"What the-" James doesn't get the chance to speak as he is forcefully grabbed by someone.

It was as quick as a blink then suddenly he is thrown against the wall by the person, whom delivers a harsh blow to James's stomach. James coughs with a groan and tries to move but is held in a tight grip.

"You fucking prick!" The man shouts aggressively at James whom cringes in pain when he delivers another blow, except this time to his face.

"Kade stop!" I rush over to him and attempt to pry his hands from James's neck.

Kade's grip tightens and attempts to hold himself back because of my presence.

"Ellie get inside." Kade demands with his fiery eyes glued on James.

I look at James who is absolutely terrified. The last thing I want to do is help James, but I will not side with violence.

"Kade please! Before someone sees we can't do this here!" I beg whilst tugging on Kade's arm furiously which doesn't budge. He ignores me and tightens his grip on James's collar.

Why must he always be so darn difficult?

"I-I'm sorry! Please! I didn't mean to-" James tries to apologise.

"- You didn't mean to what? To force yourself on my girl? Do I look fucking stupid to you?!" Kade shouts.

His girl? I feel my stomach flip and flutter.

Get your act together Armelle. This is not the time to be blushing! I mentally scold my girly thoughts.

"Fuck you." James spits at Kade.

I notice Kade's eyes turning a light gold and his breathing get deeper. I then remember the wolf that attacked me had those same glowing gold eyes.

Is it because he's angry they're changing colour?

Kade snarls at James and pulls back his fist to deliver another blow. But before he could throw a punch, he is yanked away by the last person I wanted to witness this situation.

Lucian.

"What the hell is going on here?" Lucian snaps angrily at the men. James ducks behind my brother the moment Kade is at a safe distance.

If Lucian tells mother about this, Kade will be taken away. The panic starts to sink in as I look at the three men whom look ready to brawl.

"Everything is fine here j-just a misunderstanding! Luc go enjoy the party I can handle this." I grab him by the arm and try to lead my brother back to the party.

"No I'm staying. Now someone tell me what the hell is going on." He shrugs himself from my grasp.

Why are men so ridiculously stubborn?

"He attacked me!" James is quick to point the blame. Upon hearing this, I too find myself glaring at James.

I never thought of James to be so childish, but then again I never thought he would be the type to throw himself at women. I feel like perhaps I didn't know him as well as I thought I did.

What a coward.

"I think you should move aside." Kade warns my brother whilst glaring at James whom cowers behind him.
