"The grass on your side was green
then I came in with a fire burning red,
and I turned your meadow yellow instead."

My morning has gone in a blur. I don't know whether it's because I had been given only 30 minutes to pack all of my luggage, or because my head has been reeling about the fact that I'm engaged.

I raise my left hand to admire the diamond's glimmer in the sunlight - for what felt like the hundredth time this morning.

"Congratulations dear! Oh I'm so proud of you!" I hear Adele squeals from the doorway. I turn to see my mother-figure rushing towards me with open arms and teary eyes.

I engulf her in a big hug with a just as big smile.

"I'm so happy for you! What was it like? How did he propose? Was it romantic?" Adele throws question after question about the proposal.

I tell her how the proposal went excitedly. I describe the romantic garden setting and the early sunrise that glowed around us. It was the perfect proposal. Small, sweet, simple and best of all, intimate. Adele also agreed it was the perfect proposal for me, mentioning i've always been a happily private person. As private as a Princess could be at least.

I like that I'm a private Princess. I've seen scandal after scandal of celebrities and royals that have been exposed for many things, by either themselves or the public. I was free from that sort of publicity until recently, when I became the media's favourite news story. I've noticed the world idolises grand public gestures, and displays the of love in front of large crowds of people and cameras. I on the other-hand prefer the total opposite, and I'm ok with that.

"I can't believe I'm engaged." I breathe in disbelief as I find myself staring at my ring again.

My ring. My engagement ring.

"I can. You are a beautiful and kind young lady Elle, and you will make a stunning bride and a fine Queen." She says to me wearing a warm sincere smile.

I feel tears prick my eyes at her tender words.

"Stop no you're going to make me cry again." I whine and fan my watery eyes with a laugh. She chuckles and wipes her own tears.

"I know I'm sorry but I can't help but get emotional. You're my little girl too! I have spent everyday by your side since the day you were born." Adele cries. I fan my eyes faster as the tears pool in my eyes.

"And now you are to be married, and for love at that! I can't believe how fast time flies." Adele weeps. I swipe the tears slipping from my eyes with my finger tips.

I just did my makeup damn it. I sook to myself as I try to keep myself from crying.

Adele lets a few quiet sobs slip as I quickly catch the few tears that slide down my cheeks.

"No please don't cry." I comfort her as we both get emotional.

We both laugh through our tears and make jokes until a voice at the door interrupts us.

"Sorry is this a bad time?" Someone clears their throat.

I look to the door to see none of than my brother Lucian standing at my bedroom door holding a bouquet of colourful daisies.

My bubbly excitement slowly diminishes as I remember why I'm not happy with him. I purse my lips and look at my brother in uncertainty. Not sure as to where I stand with him personally. Though I am still disappointed in him, it would be hypocritical of me to forgive Kade and not my brother.
