"I gave into the fire
I know I should've fought it
At least I'm being honest"
~It's the day of Lucian's birthday.
A day I've been dreading, as I am in no mood to entertain guests. The brawl I witnessed some days ago is to blame. It plays in my mind often and when it does I lose my appetite or interest in socialising. Which is why I have found myself locked away in my room and only leaving for the occasional stroll or meal.
"-Tragic accident on the M253 Highway as a triple car collis-". I switch off the TV once I'm sure they have no news regarding James or myself.
I've been checking the news and online articles like crazy these past few days. My anxiety of the public finding out the truth of the matter has been keeping me up at night.
They don't know, and they won't. Relax. I think.
James was put on a plane the morning after the fight, and again I have found myself entangled in a new scandal. This time they have assumed James attempted to steal me away from Kade, and for that he was removed from the country for meddling with a royal relationship.
Yet again there's some truth in that scandal. I bitterly think.
Though I'm not happy to be the talk of the country again, I'm glad that no one has heard the truth or got a good look at James's face. Things could have been so much worse if the public found out about the fight.
I imagine my mother sipping her tea with glee when she saw the scandal on the news the next day. I dread seeing her and hearing what she has to say about the situation, but so far I've been lucky as I have managed to avoid my mother and Lucian quite easily.
But Kade has been more difficult.
Kade has been very persistent on seeing me and has been coming to my room each morning. Something I would have appreciated greatly before the incident.
*Knock knock*
"Come in!" I call not looking up from my book, but whoever waits on the other side, decides not to enter.
Adele probably has her hands full. I think as I shut the book in my hands and hurry over to open the door
I open the door to let in Adele, only to see Kade has instead brought my breakfast this morning...again.
"Hey. Um I asked if I could bring you breakfast again if that's ok." Kade says wearing a nervous smile. Instead of returning a smile, I frown up at him.
He really doesn't know what space means. I think as I recall telling him to give me some time and space to recover from what I had witnessed.
His efforts are getting slightly irritating as I'm still not pleased with him. I have been giving him the cold shoulder these past few days and responding only when needed. I believe it's only fair I acknowledge him little such as he did to me the other night.
I reach for the tray but Kade steps around me and lets himself into my room.
"What are you-"
"- We need to talk Princess." He says after placing the food tray on the table. He turns to look at me with a serious but soft expression.
I look up at the man in displeasure whom looks down at me with begging eyes.
My perspective of him has shifted yet again. In my mind the kind Kade who called me beautiful and chased after me was no more. Instead he was replaced with an aggressive Kade, who is violent and brutal. Seeing my brother like that didn't hurt me near as much as it did to see Kade. I felt my heart sink watching him be so aggressive and ignorant. He wasn't thinking, he wasn't listening, he's was just acting out of rage.
