Chapter Three: To Cry Wolf

"Ready?" Adrian appears at my side when the room is half empty. I give him a big excited smile.

I have been eager for this little adventure since the moment he mentioned it. Thinking of it helped me get through the very awkward lunch, and my unexpected busy afternoon where I was bombarded by stylists and Lilith. They threw me into all sorts of wedding garments and layered my face with all sorts of products till they were sure I was perfect to their standards.

My day has been exhausting to say the least.

"So ready!" I say excitedly as I grab the wine off the butler I had sent to retrieve the bottle.

He smiles at me and at my choice of wine.

"Well in that case.." he walks over to the doorway and bows in a silly manor.

"M'lady." He says in a fake posh voice whilst me a cheeky grin. I laugh and shake my head at his dorky humour, but play along and step through the doorway.

"Why thank you kind sir." I put on my terrible posh accent and walk like an idiot. We step out into the corridor in a fit of laughter.

We continue our walk with conversation and jokes through the castle. We were enjoying ourselves so much that by the time we had reached the door that led outside, we were laughing so hard tears were rolling down our faces.

"O-Oh my god I can't stop laughing!" I wheeze through laughs as he manages to compose himself. He is about to speak until something catches his eye and he turns to look behind me. His smile disappearing almost instantly.

My laughs die down as I look to see what had Adrian so serious. When I do turn around I am met with a pair of angry brown eyes glaring at me and Adrian.

I stare back at the man before me surprised he'd be here, let alone glaring at me seeming he didn't show up for supper.

"Prince Kade?" Is the only thing I manage to say. He says nothing to me, instead looks away from me and to Adrian.

"What do you think your doing?" Kade asks Adrian rudely. Adrian is surprised by Kade's behaviour, though I don't understand why. I feel like this is Kade's usual behaviour.

"I'm taking the Princess to see the gardens. Thought it'd be a nice thing to do." Adrian answers his Prince. I find myself again wanting to fade into the background. The air is tense and I could tell Kade is not happy to see me so friendly with Adrian, though I dont know why.

Doesn't he have a beautiful blonde to go back to? I feel a sting of hurt again as I stupidly remind myself of my situation.

"Can the Princess not take herself?" Kade snaps at Adrian. I look at Kade in disbelief.

How dare he speak as if I am not here and how dare he treat an individual so poorly just for being polite.

"I was just trying to be polit-"

"-well be polite and fuck off." Kade growls before Adrian could finish his sentence. I notice Kade step forward angrily.

"Kade man chill, I thought you said that you-"

"- I know what I fucking said and i've changed my mind! Now fuck off!" Kade yells this time and I can see he is getting impatient. I notice him clenching and unclenching his fist and how his breathing has turned almost into a pant.
