"Run and hide,
It's gonna be bad tonight,
Cause here comes your Devil side taking over me"
~"Penny for your thoughts?" A voice says from behind me.
I spin around and see the devil herself smiling at me.
"Lady Emilia. Good to see you." I greet, though my tone of voice says I am less than pleased to see her. I hold back a frown as I look at her.
"Yes, well I just had to see if the rumours were true, and they are. You really did return." She smiles though I could see the annoyance in her eyes.
"Yes I did, and I'm happy with my decision." I say.
"I see that, oh and congratulations on the engagement. You must be thrilled. I will admit the news surprised me but then again..." She eyes me from head to toe before saying her next words as sweetly as possible.
"...Kade is always more excited in the morning." Her voice is soft with a tinge of mockery and her sly sweet/ arrogant smile causes me to dig my nails into the palm of my hand.
Her comment makes my nose twitch in anger. The thought she has placed in my head angers me momentarily.
How I would love to wipe that smile off her face. I think in angst.
Her fake innocent smile and arrogance makes something twist inside me. So much so, my next words come out just as bitter-sweet as hers.
"Yes, he seems to enjoy plane rides too." I say before I can stop myself. Her perfect composure falters and a new expression finds its way across her face.
I feel a flip of excitement in my belly knowing my words have gotten to her.
"The mere memory has me looking forward for the flight to our honeymoon already." I can't help but put salt on the wound with my choice of words.
Her tongue presses the inside of her cheek in irritation, and her smile turns into a scowl. My expression has since turned sour also, leaving us both wearing our true feelings towards one another. Emilia wears an unattractive scowl as she steps towards me threateningly.
I feel unthreatened by her anger at first, until her blue eyes swirl with amber, revealing her true nature.
"You should have stayed in Zurinsthea." She seethes through her elongating canines.
My expression of angst is replaced with fear, as the once gorgeous woman before me reveals a terrifying side of herself.
She is a wolf? I think.
The thought never crossed my mind that she was also one of their kind as well. I assumed because Kade found her whilst travelling, that she was also human like me. I suddenly feel less brave, and begin to regret my choice of words.
You might as well have poked a sleeping bear Elle. I mentally scold myself for acting out in angst.
My eyes are wide as I step backwards to create some sort of distance between us, but she decides to slowly stride towards me, eyeing me like I'm her prey.
"You have ruined my future." She growls angrily. My feet follow each other backwards but soon enough, I reach a wall.
"Emilia..." I say in fear. Emilia ignores my plea but seems satisfied with my reaction. A twisted smirk forms across her lips as she walk closer until her tall frame towers over me, then she leans closer to spit her final threat.
