Thanks to the large meal and the boys' lack of portion control, they all fell asleep in the designated chamber Amiire assigned for them. The surges of power in the air picked at Mekhi's energy, keeping him from sleeping with the rest of them. Instead, he lay awake in the large bed with Kit cuddled next to him. Cori and Alex remained asleep on the other side of the bed as the rest of them slept on the bed across from them.

He blinked when he sensed a new surge of energy and turned to find Zyair perched in the window. He gestured for Mekhi to follow him. The two flew up to the roof of the tower and Mekhi gazed at the garden below.

Last night, the garden did not look as big. The flowers reflected the sun as small streams of water flew from the lake into the soil. He could see many different creatures shuffle through the fields but they were not the wolves who attacked them. Rather they were creatures he had never seen before, nor could he make out from his place in the sky.

"I see you found your brother," Zyair said as he pulled out a cigarette before lighting it with his finger.

"Amiire had him the whole time. I'm just relieved he's okay."

"In a way you seemed to have already known that. I just came to make sure you didn't die."

"You going soft on me now, Morningstar?" Mekhi teased and Zyair rolled his eyes.

"It'd be annoying to know you left a human alone in Markvere. It's a good thing Queen Bright has such a soft spot for children.... Thank you for keeping your promise."

"I'm starting to believe Nikaelis was wrong about you having connections to the Salem family. You know Amiire personally. More than that, you care about him."

"How you figure?"

"The minute his name left Nick's lips, you grew hostile. I see that exact same face everyday in the mirror when it concerns one of my brothers. What happened to where you're so desperate to avoid him?"

"That's my business," Zyair said as he stood.

He peered over the ledge of the tower as Markvere awoke. He always enjoyed the daylight but found himself too tired to live through from the long nights. Despite the amount of makeup, Mekhi could tell he too was an insomniac. Is that really what I look like?

Mekhi laid back on the roof of the tower, letting his feet dangle off the ledge.

"Did you know Amiire was a Kappa?"

"He must really trust you to reveal such a secret. I'm the one who helped him master the Molton inside. He grew past my expectations, I didn't know he was that strong."

"From my understanding, everyone here gets their powers by blood. But both of Amiire's parents are Wilderons."

"The purebreds came solely down the Salem bloodline. Queen Bright's powers are somewhat foreign to the region, many believe she could be generations removed from Moltons. Decades to the point her powers are minimalized from her psychic abilities. Amiire discovered he could move things with his mind and got scared, tried to push it away."

"But you wouldn't let him do that."

"Every being should embrace their abilities, it's who we are. And Amiire is one of the strongest Moltons I have ever seen. His egotistical father has that prideful stick so far up his ass, he can only see an heir who grows lilies beneath his feet. I was not about to let him throw away such an amazing power."

Mekhi smirked up at Zyair, making him furrow his brows. He stood up before taking Zyair's cigarette from his mouth and blowing a cloud on his chest.

"You loved him, didn't you?" Mekhi questioned and Zyair blushed.
