The carriages rolled out one by one. The Wilderon kings and queens gave their goodbyes as did the young Wilderons. Midori hid away with the rest of the lot in the wine cellar, holding her baby for as long as she could.

"I'm sorry Amiire. I know I should have came to you."

"There's not a day that goes by where you don't brave this world alone. I'm not mad Midori. Just happy that Mekhi got to you first."

"I could never repay you for this, Mekhi. You've saved us both."

"I haven't done anything yet. When a child is born, both of the parents can feel it. He'll be coming for one of you eventually but I can only protect Yun."

"I'm much stronger than I was back then. He better hope I never see his face again."

Mekhi simply smirked, for he could see his energy slightly influenced the princess. Those pretty green eyes turned vengeful, bloodthirsty even. As much as it worried him she might go after the man, he respected her inner wishes.

"Princess Midori! Where are you?! The carriage will be leaving soon!" One of her guards called.

Midori sighed sadly before kissing her child's forehead and handing him over to Mekhi. Amiire gripped her shoulder before waving a hand over Yun, manifesting a black onesie with pink outlines. It appeared the same as Midori's huntress uniform.

"You'll see him again soon. We promise to protect him if you promise to protect yourself."

"I promise," Midori said before hugging her friend then kissing Jasp goodbye.

The two escorted her out to the carriages, though she glanced back at her son. Mekhi and the others huddled around him before taking Yun out the back of the wine cellar.

They left the castle while everyone was distracted with the departing Wilderons and returned to the mountain. Ralyks landed in the front yard, letting everyone off his back. Amias assured he was the first one out to greet them as he halted in front of Mekhi, looking down at the baby in his arms.

"You poor child. 'Bout to raise a little ghetto prince?"

"Amiire turned out okay," Mekhi said as Amias laughed.

They all made their way inside where Mekhi presented the child to Vince. He held Yun with an arched brow, as if analyzing him. Zyair grabbed Mekhi's arm once he handed over the child and dragged him away from the others.

"You realize this is a dangerous idea, right?"

"You're the one who gave me the spell."

"I didn't think you were going to keep it, let alone have enough power to use it. Not only is he of royal blood, but Ultome blood. Energy like that is not easy to hide, and that's if he even developed Midori's abilities."

"What do you mean?"

"Not everyone is born with one of their parent's powers or both. There are most who develop a power that's a fused energy of their own. Because very few people are born with Wilderon mixed blood, there's no telling what this child is capable of."

"He saved his mother's life."

"He saved himself. Children, especially infants, are the most unpredictable creatures in Markvere. You saw yourself how strong Zuri is. Protecting him isn't going to be easy if you don't have experience."

"Lucky for both of us, I have plenty. Besides, looks like your sister already likes him," Mekhi said with a smirk.

Zyair turned around to find Zylith had taken the child as she, Mejia, and Bibimal made their way to the kitchen, wanting to feed him. Zyair sighed in defeat, forgetting his sister had a soft spot for babies.
