"I thought we talked about you running off on your own. In this world especially, it's dangerous, Kit," Vince said with his arms crossed.
Mekhi brought them all back to the house after the female Moltons cleared out. The twins were forced to head up to the bathrooms and wash the Ultome blood off of them. Meanwhile, the rest of the boys were in their newly designated rooms and Nikaelis took Rea back to his house. Another request from Vince for he knew the Kappa was capable of keeping her safe. Left a few less kids for him to keep an eye on.
Kit kept his hands behind his back and his head down as Vince spoke. A tactic he knew eased Vince's punishments back at the Sanloft.
"I'm sorry Vince. When Zyair left, I was worried he was in trouble."
"And you had a right to be. Had Mekhi and Amiire not been there, another Ultome could have found you, or you could have gotten caught in the warzone. All I ask is you come to me or one of your brothers if you have any sense of danger, okay? Can you do that for me?"
"Yes, Vince."
"Good..... Now, other than that, your heart was in the right place. You have impeccable senses when it comes to your friends and brothers and I want you to trust those instincts more. Just not to run into the danger yourself."
"Can I learn some new magic from you too?!" Kit asked as he beamed up at the man. Vince sighed in defeat, forgetting how quickly his lectures fly away when it came to Kit. With an amused grin, the man nodded and Kit laughed before hugging him and running upstairs to his room.
"These kids are gonna be the death of me," he mumbled before heading upstairs himself.
Containing a total of ten rooms in the whole house, Vince managed to give the boys each their own rooms. What he did not expect was for the boys to retreat back to their original roommates, breaking down to half of the available space.
He found Kevin and Jack still awake playing games on the new system they brought from the living room. What he was not expecting was to find Amiire laying on Jack's bed with his arm rested over his head.
"Boys, bed. Go wash up," he announced. Kevin and Jack sighed before setting down their controllers and racing to the bathrooms. Vince blinked once he realized their urgency to get out.
"And stay out of the bathroom Zylith's in!"
Amiire chuckled as the man made his way in. He finally sat up, showing Vince his perplexed expression masked by a grin.
"If you've been here when they first met, Jack's not heading for Zylith. Her brother is quite an enticing creature."
"So I've heard. You're still here, are you okay?"
"I.....I don't know. I can't go back home just yet, my mother will know something is wrong."
Flattered that the prince chose to stay with Vince rather than coming out to his own father, Vince closed the door behind him before sitting next to Amiire. Urging him to continue.
"It was a bloodbath, Vince. They tore that clan apart like they were nothing. With Zyair and Zylith's powers combined, they managed to make them all explode from the inside out. I know a king is supposed to experience wars and look danger in the eye. To lead your men into the worse odds."
"But that's not what bothered you. Seeing all that blood and savagery was not the problem, was it?"
"Vince, he liked it. Mekhi was excited to watch, and I knew he wanted to be a part of that fight. His eyes lit up from all the blood and I....for a split second, I started to believe Gavlen's words about him. That he's a being of chaos and destruction and I hate myself for being afraid of that fact."
