"Where the hell are they?" Zyair questioned as he walked to the back of the school with the lot.

Once the final bell rang, they all met up in the courtyard. Though Kevin, Jack, and Ralyks were nowhere to be found. Most of the students were leaving, some stayed for sports or clubs, one including baseball practice.

But Mekhi knew that was not where they were. Kevin and Jack only ever attended practice when they wanted to, and wanted to avoid their substitute who managed to extend his stay.

"They like to do their own practice time," Mekhi said as he led. "Though I didn't think they would come out this far."

"Then how do you...?" Amiire paused when he saw Mekhi holding his chest. His eyes were orange and focused on the field ahead. "Never mind."

Once they turned the corner they found Jack standing alone in a field outside the gate. He was waiting, watching the back alleys intensely. Only when he felt the others getting closer did he glance back.

"Dudes! You've got to check this out!"

"Where's Kevin and Ralyks?" Mekhi called but Jack waved them off with his baseball glove.

Mekhi twitched when he heard a sharp whistle in the air that grew louder by the minute. He gasped when he figured out what was coming and saw a baseball travel through the back-alleys at hyper speed.

What surprised the others was how Jack caught it in his glove, making him flip over the gate. He cracked a loud laugh as he pushed himself up from the ground. Only then did they see Kevin and Ralyks running back.

"Did you get it?" Kevin asked as he hopped over the fence.

"Hell yeah I did! How far were you dude?"

"At least a mile! It actually reached you this time?"

As the two laughed in disbelief, the rest stared at them mortifyingly confused. Kevin threw the ball from a mile away, making it travel with immense speed. No human could throw a ball with such strength, let alone catch one with that amount of force.

"What just happened?" Mekhi questioned, knowing everyone else was thinking the same.

"If I had to take a wild guess, I'd say that was super-strength," Zyair said. "Ultome-level super-strength."

Rather than returning to Rea's house, the lot decided to loiter on top of a building near the school while Mekhi and Ralyks went to pick up Kit and Jasp. The six of them climbed to the top with the rest of them before Jasp pressed his head against Amiire's, grateful he was okay.

"How was grade school?"

"Children are terrifying. I don't know how this graceful child does it." Only then did Jasp notice how twitchy the lot was for waiting. The Kodiak boys specifically. "I heard the humans are molting."

"Is that what we're calling it?" Kevin questioned. "Is this what you guys feel inside you all the time? It feels insane!"

"Are all of you feeling it?" Mekhi questioned as he held Alex's head and scanned him. Alex waved him away for he felt restless standing and talking.

"Yes, okay! I feel it too, but I ain't got no super-strength. I don't know what I got."

"No fair, how come you two got new fancy powers?" Chris questioned as Jack ruffled his hair.

"'Cause we're the oldest."

"Is that really why?" Mekhi asked Zyair and he shrugged.

"I've never actually seen this before. I knew it would happen but I have no idea how."
