After the walls had closed, the girl hadn't taken her eyes off of them, she hoped they opened and the feeling of claustrophobia and being trapped would leave, but they stayed comfortably closed.

"Are you gonna help?" She looked up to see Newt who was putting large sticks up against one another, she wasn't in the mood to have a entire bonfire but it seemed to be the only way people would leave her alone, if she helped.

"Okay." She got up from where she was sat and began helping Newt and a few other boys, by the time it began getting reasonably dark it was finished.

Alby came over and began lighting large wooden sticks on fire for everyone, the two greenies stood to the side and watched as they threw them into the wood and it all lit up simultaneously.

the brown haired boy and her ended up splitting once the real party began, but she located him pretty fast with Newt. She had been occupied by Chuck who was really rubbing off on her, even though the guys treated him like he was annoying.

"You know, i've never spoken to a girl before." Chuck said taking a bite from his bread, he looked up at the girl who was wondering where the conversation was going.

"Well now you have." She smiled back, she had been handed a drink by Alby and took a gulp. It was for sure alcohol of sorts mixed with other things, but the recipe apparently stayed secret as Gally made it.

"Yeah, it's cool." Chuck finally answered, they both sat on the edge of the party watching boys scramble to push one another out a circle.

"You know Runners?" The girl asked Chuck, he slowly looked back up from his bread and nodded hesitatingly. Not many people asked about Runners, especially greenies.

"How do you become one?" Chucks entire face dropped and he shook his head immediately.

"They won't let you and you can't." Chuck spoke really fast and seemed a little panicked.

"Why not?" She asked knowing the answer "Is it because i'm a girl?" She scoffed at how pathetic that was to her, she knew being surrounded by guys wouldn't be a treasure but she expected a little respect when it came to choosing her job, she was even angrier by how they wouldn't let her help ESCAPE the maze, did they wanna be stuck here forever?

"If you wanna be a runner, talk to Minho, he's the keeper of the runners." Chuck pointed to the boy she had been seeing a lot of recently and now she finally knew his name, Minho. She wasted no time in bringing herself towards him, she plonked herself right beside him and took a sip of her drink.

"Can i help you?" He asked turning to look at her, she nodded while taking another sip of the drink she hadn't put down.

"You can actually," she started "i would like to be a runner." she finished, he laughed, but not just a small laugh, a very loud laugh that received many stares and glances. Even Thomas who was on the other side of the bonfire turned to look.

"Why is that funny?" The girl asked confused at why he was almost crying from laughter. She also felt insulted and could feel the anger threatening to burst out into the open.

"Because that's a death wish, you don't wanna die do you?" He asked looking at her in the dim light of the distant fire.

She thought for a moment but then shrugged.

"Who said i'd die anyways." She leant back slightly and took another sip from her drink, her eyes landed upon Chuck who had both his thumbs up and a great big smile across his face.

"Not happening, Greenie." Minho placed his plate down on the ground which had been resting on his lap. She began to get fed up with how stubborn he was and stood up, towering over him.
