She spent the entire day in the maze, she couldn't go back yet, she didn't know how she was suppose to show her face there again.
However curiosity got the best of her, she had been walking all day at that point, with a gooey bit of griever heart in her hand, so she decided to make her way back to the entrance just to see how they were getting along.
Once the walls looked extremely familiar she knew that one last turning would mean she was on the home stretch of the maze, the place she had run up and down with Thomas countless amounts of times.
Thomas...
Even thinking about him was a weird type of feeling, she didnt hate him, but she felt more then betrayed that he hadn't even spoken to her after she was basically dying from the virus, after attacking Theresa he looked at her differently; they all did. But something about him looking at her like a monster, bothered her even more. She hadn't realised how much she cared for him, how weird she felt without him, being away from him and inches from death made her realised how much he meant to her, i mean even before she death the last thing she thought of was Him.
She regretted not being in touch with her feelings before all that mess happened, but she knew if she was to reunite with him she wouldn't hesitate to show him how strong her feelings were for him.
She slowly peeped around the corner and saw two lifeless lumps on the floor, curled up in with their knees tucked in. One was bigger then the other and she knew immediately who they were.
Chuck and Thomas.
She cussed under her breath and remembered the small carved wood Chuck had given her, she patted both her pockets and stuck one hand in the right pocket, she let out a sigh of relief when her fingers grazed the wood, she hadn't lost it.
She peeped back around the corner and could see the two body's stirring, waking up. Thomas was the first to wake up. It was pretty late in the day so for them to both be sleeping outside the walls meant they had been there a while.
"Is she there?" A soft voice echoed to her ears, Chuck. The pair of them were both now standing, staring down the dark hallways in hopes of spotting her, but she was way too scared to make an appearance, her knees had practically buckled on her and she couldn't move.
"No, she's out there though, i know it." Thomas sighed rubbing his eyes.
Their voices were distant and she could barely hear the small conversation they were having, but she couldn't take her eyes off of him. She stopped looking for a moment and placed her back against the wall, she knew she had to leave, the walls would close eventually and she'd have to be out in the maze again.
"Thomas." Her voice alone ran shock through her veins, Iris snapped her neck to look back down at the entrance, and just as she expected Theresa was standing beside Thomas.
"She's not coming back." Iris scoffed at her certainty of her whereabouts, her ego almost got the better of her and she was about to take a step out into the open just to prove Theresa wrong.
"Frypan said food is ready." Theresa spoke again, Iris waited a couple moments but heard no movement, she peeped back around the corner to see them all still standing there, Theresa just staring at Thomas.
Behind them was Minho approaching.
"Hey." He said to both Chuck and Thomas, Iris could see how cold he acted towards Theresa, he didn't even look in her direction. She hoped it was because Minho had believed her, but that was an unrealistic hope.
"We should go." Chuck finally sighed out after small talk between the group, Thomas hadn't engaged in the conversation he stayed staring, it made her worry for a moment that he had seen her.
