"Greenie!" She jolted up from her hammock, almost falling completely out the side of it, she turned to see Alby and Thomas who had been the culprits of the close accident that could have happened.

She didn't say anything just looked at them waiting to see what they wanted, they were holding back chuckles and laughs from her reaction which only annoyed her more.

"I wanna show you both something." Alby finally said after chuckling as quietly as he could, she jumped down from her hammock and tied up her laces quickly.

"What is it?" She asked getting up from the ground, she noticed how the sun hadn't even risen over the walls, and how all the other boys were still fast asleep in their hammocks.

The gates however, were back open, so she assumed Ben and Minho had already gone exploring the maze like they did.

"Just follow me." Alby ushered for them to hurry along and they did, Thomas and Iris exchanged their confused glances but trusted him enough to keep up.

Her eyes explored their surroundings and found their own way to what was in Albys hand, a knife, a sense of worry washed over her but she brushed it off remembering the rules, and how much of a genuine guy he was, but she still wanted to know why he needed one.

He began talking about the peace of the glade, about how they had to establish some kind of order for everything to work, and so nobody got hurt.

They stopped at a wall, names covered it, some had been crossed off and some were still there. She noticed Gallys and Minho's, then Newts and realised the ones that were crossed off, she had never heard of before or seen. She put two and two together and had her own theory for why they had been crossed off.

"Why are they crossed of?" Thomas had a thing with asking questions that Iris had always thought of, so whenever she had a new question she waited for Thomas to ask first for the answers. He had a weird way of getting the answers that he needed.

"Like i said, dark days." He handed Thomas the knife first and Thomas began carving his name into the wall, it looked harder than it was but he did take forever trying to perfect the 'O'.

Iris took the knife from Thomas' hand and placed it against the wall.

"You remember your name?" Thomas asked sounding slightly excited for her, she shrugged not knowing if it was her name or not.

"I don't know.. It doesn't feel like it's mine if i'm honest." She brushed it off as if it didn't bother her and instead of writing 'Iris' she wrote 'maybe iris' just in case it wasn't her real name.

The day went on fairly smoothly, Thomas and Iris were told to stay with Newt for the day, having to follow his lead in the gardens which was extremely boring and draining.

"Hey wheres Chuck?" Iris asked poking her head up into the air to try and find the boy, usually he would have stuck with Thomas and Iris and cracked funny but mean jokes about everything they did.

"Fixing his hammock." A boy with blonde curly hair spoke from the floor, he was very quiet and extremely reserved, he rarely spoke to anyone and it was even more rare for him to even look at you properly. Thomas had told her his name was Zart, not many people knew much about the guy.

She walked over to the hammock area, leaving Thomas with Newt and searched for Chuck. He was bent down on his knees trying to scavenge the remaining rope that had somehow broke. She leant beside him and he jumped slightly.

"What happened?" She asked, she picked up one end of the rope, then the other and noticed the obvious perfect slit in the rope, a frown crossed over her face once she realised what had happened.
