Chapter 15: Ryo-Chan vs Mi-Chan!

Heyo Peeps, hows it going? I have been enjoying this Food Wars arc a lot because it's been a while since I've watched the show so it's giving me an excuse to rewatch some of the episodes, the same goes for Haikyuu. I also know that the Autumn Selection goes longer than the span of a week but for the sake of it not being suspicious to the team it's only going to take a week here. Today the picture actually belongs to me as I ate this ramen a while ago and felt like taking a picture I'm glad I did.

Y/n POV

I was super excited because Megumi-Chan and Ryo-Chan are having their match soon.

I was looking forward to the the ramen match and was planning on watching it from the VIP viewing spot but on my own this time because Eri-Chan wasn't very interested in Mi-Chan's cooking.

Y/n POV

I had arrived at the competition venue right on time and gave my encouragement to my friends before I headed to the viewing box.

The contestants walked into the venue and there was a round of applause for each of them.

Ryo being dramatic as usual put his headband on with a flourish and his aura intensified. 'Now that I think about it he looks like he's using Nen.' I thought dryly.

All I knew about what Megumi was using some ingredients from home and making a seafood based flavor.

I also knew that Ryo would be going with seafood as well but I didn't know much else he's always been the secretive type.

I looked down at the expressions and listened in on the conversations I could tell that Megumi was terrified in the inside but she stayed calm and continued to cook.

'Ryo cool it or I'll be at your ass when you get home from this.' I thought unhappy with his attitude towards my friend.

Y/n POV

Ryo had finally finished his dish and it surprised everyone that he had gone with a French broth but I expected it he was always good at French food seeing as he had grown up in Northern Europe and all he was probably going to be adept at some of the popular cuisine there.

One of the judges tried the soup and was instantly blown away by the strong flavor that still worked well in its own way the fish innards among other things making the flavor rich and strong.

When the same judge tried dipping the noodles in the soup it almost made him fall over the amount of umami to much for him.

Ryo had not added very many conventional toppings, cheese, aioli, tempura croutons, and toast.

After this was when the judges finally understood why he had ground the shellfish shells. They probably contained a bunch of chemicals that create umami I don't remember the names that's Ali-Chan's job and by adding a buttload into the soup he was able to make a strong but not overpowering flavor.

This caused the old man to strip through 'sheer force' as he so eloquently put it causing me to facepalm but still this reaction was very good indeed also factoring in that he didn't strike a dramatic pose while he stripped.

Finally Megumi served her dish, her dish gave a shock to the judges who's expectations had lowered after trying Ryo-Chan's dish when they tasted the amount of umami in it and started questioning wether or not it was a light soup or not.

When it was revealed that Megumi had used Kozuyu as a reference for her ramen it impressed the judges even more that she was able to interpret such an unique local dish as ramen.

The judges were even more shocked when she told them that the amount of umami was from the vegetables and the vegetables weren't fresh either they were dry so that the flavor could be concentrated.

When the judges added the extra sauce that Mi-Chan had prepared they were just impressed even mor that she had been able to add so much umami into a dish that wasn't meant to be strong.

Y/n POV

The judges were about to announce the winner of the ramen battle but I already knew who is was.

"The winner is Kurokiba Ryo!" Said the announcer.

There was a round of applause for both sides.

When I got to Ryo I reached up and gave him a hug "Good job out there Ryo-Chan!" I said giving him a blinding smile.

"Oh so I'm not worthy of the non fake smiles now eh?." He asked sneakily. "When you stop terrorizing my friends intentionally or not you will be." I said while kicking his shin hard.

He doubled over and clutched his leg mumbling curses and some other not so nice things about me.

"Curse all you want Ryo-Chan it won't changeee~" I sang walking away from him.

"Mi-Chan! You were amazing out there you handled him well. Don't worry I've already given him a lesson about being rude to my friends!" I said smiling while giving the girl a tight hug.

"Thanks Y/n-Chan I'm glad I have your support." She said bashfully.

"You're very welcome Mi-Chan that's what friends are for right?" I said.

Y/n POV

It was time for Hisa-Chan to go against Aki-Chan I wasn't sure if I was looking forward to this or not because I knew that is Hisa-Chan lost it would be a major hit to both her and Eri-Chan who depends on her greatly.

I hoped that whatever the turnout was wouldn't affect their relationship too much but you never know.

I just hope that whatever the outcome Hisa-Chan keeps her word and stays by Eri-Chan's side no matter what happens to them.

Man that was a shorter chapter but whatever I needed to post something and I actually need to sleep if I'm gonna be productive tomorrow. As always Thank you for reading and stay safe!
