It is now Saturday, the day of Hufflepuff quidditch tryouts. Lee was able to "try out" for the commentator position yesterday and he got it. This didn't surprise me considering that he had been randomly doing a play by play of things I did through the week and is very good at it. I just know that he'll be great at it. However, it will be sad to see the other girl go. She was rather good and I liked that her hair was a different color each game. But tryouts are today. Seiko is also trying out and I believe Marissa is coming to watch. I'm trying out for chaser and Seiko is going out for keeper.
"Are you ready?" Seiko asks. She's holding her broom, a Shooting Star from a couple years ago. I didn't bring my broom so I'll have to use a school broom. I figured that if I do make the team, I'll buy myself a new one.
"Yes! Well, I think so. Let's just do it." I respond, anxiety lacing my voice. I'm nervous but also excited.
"Okay let's go." We make our way down to the quidditch pitch to find a few other students waiting there, looking nervous.
"Ugh. Hydra at three o'clock." says Seiko, groaning. I glance over and see Hydra standing there, holding a brand new polished broom. She notices us and sneers. I sneer back.
"What are you two going out for?" I hear a voice from behind me ask. I turn to see a young boy with brown hair and grey eyes looking at me. He's lanky and looks young, maybe a third year.
"Chaser," I respond, "You?"
"Seeker" the boy says.
"I'm going for keeper" Seiko chimes in. The boy is still looking at me. He's quite handsome, with defined cheekbones and a charming smile.
"I'm Emmeline, and this is Seiko," I say, "And you are?"
"Cedric Diggory. Pleasure meeting you." He says, grinning. I smile back.
"Are you trying out for the first time?" I ask him.
"Yeah. I want to be a seeker and the position wasn't available last year, my second year, so here I am." So my suspicions were right about him being a third year. Seiko is smiling at him and we suddenly hear a loud whistle sound.
Fweeeet!
Seiko, Cedric, and I direct our attention to the captain, Irma Haywood. I've seen her around. I believe she's in her sixth or seventh year and she's got smooth long black hair. It's pin straight and nearly comes to her lower back. It looks great with her forest green eyes and brown skin. She's gorgeous.
"Alright so this is how this is going to work. We've only got 2 hours before the Gryffindor team tryouts. We'll start with chasers and keepers. Chasers, over here and keepers, over here." she says, pointing to her left and then to her right. I split up from Seiko and Cedric and go to where 5 other people trying out for chaser are standing. I see Seiko go to the other side.
"Okay, so since there's six of you, we'll divide into two groups of three and rotate keepers, seeing as there's four of you," She says, "Rosewood, Preece, Dayal, you can be one team and Bones, Macavoy, and Trist can be the other."
I see two kids making their way over to me, one guy and one girl. I recognize the boy. He was on the Hufflepuff team last year and the girl looks to be one or two years older than me.
"Malcolm right? And Aarya?" I ask them as they reach me. They nod and the girl, Aarya, smiles.
"Emmeline right?" Malcolm asks. I nod as we wait to be assigned our keepers.
"Okay, Liu and Fleet with the first team and Spinnet and Galley with team two" Irma yells and then she tells us to mount our brooms. I mount the school broom that I'm borrowing and see Seiko make her way to the goalposts. She flashes me a wide smile and I give her a thumbs up.
