The school bell rings, echoing through the boxed-in classroom, indicating the end of the period. Many kids jump-alarmed to be disturbed from their boredom-induced sleep-and quickly scribble down the last of the History of Magic notes that continued to be written on the board despite the end of class.
Kids quietly trickle out, going unnoticed by Professor Binns, who's still drowning on and on of the last wizarding Collora pandemic. Not exactly the last thing I'd want to learn before lunch.
I sit- along with a handful of other students- and wait for him to finish. 5 minutes pass and before I know it, I'm the last person persisting to finish my notes. 30 minutes go by and the end of lunch nears-I decide to stay anyways.
Professor Binns finally finishes when he meets the end of both his chalkboard and his stub of a writing utensil and waves me goodbye- not seeming to be surprised when he notices his loss of students. I thank him for the lesson before exiting the class and heading straight for my next one.
As I'm walking past the classroom door frame, a hand gently grabs my wrist and turns me around. I laugh out of shock and turn to come face to face with a certain Diggory bearing the world's greatest gift, food.
"Saw you missed lunch and thought you might need this." He smiles, handing me the plate.
"Thanks," I sigh with a light smile, while my back glides down the wall and onto the floor for a steady eating position. I take a bite of the lukewarm, generously buttered, roll, and hum in delight.
"I take it you were hungry then." He chuckles, sitting next to me and reaching for a fry. I quickly swat his hand away and send him a warning glare, "Jeez, you're quite hangry." He says, rubbing his hand.
We sit in a short silence while I eat.
"How's Lee?" I smile, my stomach no longer throwing a tantrum, "It feels like it's been forever since I've seen him last. Probably should get on that."
"He's great! We're great..." He trails off, seeming to get consumed by his thoughts, "Yeah! He's great! Flamboyant as usual, failing a good amount of his classes. But, I'm getting on him about it...literally-"
"Okay, okay!" I shout, slapping my hands over my ears, "I asked about his well-being, not your sex life, good Godric! What is with people and over-sharing these days?!"
"Sorry," He chuckles, scratching his neck awkwardly, "Can I walk you to class?"
"Sure!"
I stand up and dispose of my plate and utensils before walking alongside Cedric to Transfiguration. As we walk, he waves to some classmates he knows- obviously less picky of friends as me. We get to the classroom in practically no time- all the while talking about the upcoming quidditch practice and new plays he's thought of.
We reach the doorway, and he hands me my books- giving me a side hug and waving goodbye.
"It was nice talking to you!" He calls from the end of the hall.
"You too!" I wave back with a slight awkward tension. There was something off about the meet, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Was something wrong with him and Lee? Nah, that couldn't be it.

"E!" A voice yells, I pivot to see Seiko and Marissa running up to me.
"Hey!" I smile, tossing my arms around their shoulders.
"Where the hell have you been?" Seiko pants from running.
"It seems like years since we've talked!" Marissa muses.
"Sorry, I've just been busy lately." I sigh.
"With that boyfriend of yours," Seiko mutters.
"What's wrong with that?" I say in slight offense.
"I wouldn't have condoned it if I had known you'd leave us for an older man!"
"I did not leave you guys!" I exclaim, "Helga, do you really feel that way?" I ask, genuinely concerned.
They pause for a moment, having a conversation through the other's eyes.
"Kind of, yeah." Marissa sighs, looking at me with apologetic eyes, "We understand but, we don't want to lose you E. We like Oliver! We really do! But, we miss our girl."
"You didn't lose me."
"Sure feels like it." Seiko says, before pausing to check the time, "We ought to get to practice. See yah Mar!" Seiko jogs to the quidditch pitch while I standstill.
"Don't worry, E." Marissa brings me into a comforting hug, "We just miss you is all. You have every right to spend time with your boyfriend, we're just being jealous. You were ours first!" She chuckles before ushering me away.
Was I really ignoring them?
