Fuli's Journey [Moved To AO3]

Chapter 9 ~ Meanwhile, In the Pridelands

~3rd Person PoV~
   "Hey! Kion! Wanna go to the watering hole with us and play some Bayobab Ball? Huh!" Bunga said, tossing the fruit towards the dusty-furred, limp-maned, dull-eyed lion.

   Kion didn't respond. It had been months since he could only watch helplessly as the one female he loved was taken from him. Since then, Vitani's(the bullet only grazed her but at the same time she tripped and hit a rock, rendering her unconcious) backup Lion Guard(in this AU, Vitani and Kion had their Mashendano and it ended in a tie. Since the whole contest ended up tieing, they agreed that if any member of the first Lion Guard was injured or sick, then Vitani's Lion Guard member would step up took take their spot until they were better) had to pick up Kion's slack.

   "No thanks Bunga." He said in a flat monotone. "Not today..." He got to his paws only for his father to approach him.

   "Kion. It's time to accept the fact that Fuli your second in command is dead. It's time to pick a new member to become the Fastest in the Pridelands." Simba said calmly. Kion whipped around to face his father; eyes blazing with fury, tail twitch angrily, and more forbidding dark clouds began to grow behind him.

   "You want me to do WHAT?!" He lashed out. "NO ONE COULD EVER REPLACE HER!!! SHE WAS KIDNAPPED WE DON'T KNOW IF SHE'S DEAD OR NOT I AM NOT REPLACING HER FOR HER TO RETURN AND HAVE A STRANGER IN HER PLACE AT MY SIDE!! I AM NEVER REPLA-"

   "KION!! CALM DOWN!! LOOK BEHIND YOU!!" Kiara screamed. Kion turned and his eyes widen at the faint outlines of lions in the clouds. He'd been so mad he nearly lost control of his power and used the Roar on his father!

   "Shwari..." He muttered to himself, closing his eyes and taking deep breaths. He then turned and jogged up the trail to the pinnacle of Pride Rock.

   "Kion!" Kiara leaped fowards to follow him, but her mate Kovu stepped in front of her.

   "I think Kion needs some time alone right now." Kovu whispered into her ear. "Besides, we both know he not only lost her as his friend and second in command, but as his future mate. He must be taking it worse than most animals."

~Kion's PoV~
   'It's not fair! They all get their happy endings with the females they love, but me; oh no, because fate's like: "Oh look Kion's winning against Scar! Let's give him the mark of evil and miss his sister's first hunt!" or "Ohhhh, is Kion in love? He's not allowed to love so we'll take her away from him!"' I ranted to myself as I flumped down on the tippy top of Pride Rock.

   "I just want you back..." I choked out, sobbing as the dark clouds slowly dissapeared to show the first stars appearing. I looked up and began to sing, not knowing that Fuli was looking at the stars as well with our cubs at her belly and singing the same song.

   AN: Hey guys hope you're enjoying this book! So, fun fact: The song is from the movie An American Tail(good movie go watch it). I thought it would fit perfectly with the circumstances Kion & Fuli are in rn. Also, the scene of Kion snapping at his father I could practically see happening in front of me; the white-hot fury in Kion's body, the shock in Simba at his son's reaction to his request, the surprise and fear in the Guard and in Simba's pride as the wind picked up around Kion and Simba, dark clouds rolling ominously behind Kion like when he uses the Roar in anger, and feeling the tension that was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
