"Okay, Mallory, your turn, truth or dare?"
Mallory sighed. "I picked truth last time, so I guess this time it's gotta be dare, right, TJ?"
"Yes, yes, yes! I dare you to sit on Halfborn's lap and the both of you have to act like a couple for the rest of the game," TJ said, smirking. He was always saying he 'shipped' Mallory and Halfborn together, and now he was acting on it. It was terrifying.
"But I'm too heavy," she protested. "I- I can't."
"Rubbish," scoffed Magnus. "You're the lightest teenager there ever was."
"Seconded," said Alex from across the room.
Mallory glared at them both, and she shrugged. Seeing she had no other choice, Mallory crawled over to him and hesitantly sat on Halfborn's lap.
"Wow, you're really light," Halfborn remarked, and a breeze ran through the room. Mallory shivered. TJ looked at him pointedly, and the lopsided grin slid off his face to be replaced with a slightly anxious expression. Halfborn took off his hoodie and draped it around Mallory's shoulders.
"Oh. Thanks, Halfborn." She put it on properly, and he put his strong hands around her waist, holding her protectively. There was no contact with their skin, but Mallory was so unused to this that she recoiled at the action at first. Halfborn quickly withdrew his hands.
"Gods, I'm so sorry, Mallory," he said, wide-eyed.
"No, no, it's fine," she said, and he cautiously put his hands back around her waist. She could feel a tingling sensation, even through the hoodie - that was very baggy on her - but didn't react negatively, just relaxing into his grip more, and leaning back a little to gently rest her head on his shoulder.
The others in the truth or dare circle awwed gently, and Mallory would normally glare at them, but she couldn't find it in her at that moment. She was so at ease, moving sounded like the worst thing in the world, and she closed her eyes, enjoying the comfort that being in Halfborn'a arms brought her.
