Starting New

I woke up dazed and confused as my alarm blared. I reached over, trying to turn it off, but kept missing. Finally, I sat up and pressed the button, silencing the horrid reminder that I had to start a new job today. Of course, I was excited as well. Who wouldn't? I had been dreaming of working for the FBI forever, and now my dream was actually coming true! I was starting new, a clean slate. That had been my mantra over the last few months. Quitting my job was a big step for me, especially when I would be moving all the way to Virginia. All of this was such a big change, but I was so ready for it.

Getting out of bed, I slipped on a silk robe and walked to the bathroom. I turned on the shower and waited for it to heat up. As I did, I stripped off my clothes and put on some music. I let the music and the warm water slowly wake me up. I just came home from a very exciting weekend in Atlantic City. It was... eventful... to say the least... Anyway, I was ready to get back into a routine and use my brain again, because let me tell you, I was not thinking straight at all during the last few days. I did things that I never thought I would do... ever. I didn't do anything too crazy, but some people just bring things out of you that you never even knew about.

Shit! I always fucking do this. Damn it.

I cut my leg as I was shaving. Wincing, I ran it under the water and continued, slowing down a little to prevent another knick. Letting the water run over my wrists, I examined the faint bruises that were left there. Mementos from one of my many adventures last weekend. I was itching to get to work and meet my new colleagues. I already knew one of them. I met her during said weekend in Atlantic City, but no one could know that. It was our little secret.

I finished my shower and dried off my hair before making my way to the closet. I picked out a white dress shirt and layered a black blazer over it with matching pants. I made sure to leave the top buttons undone to show just a little cleavage, but not too much as to seem unprofessional. I had someone to impress after all.

I checked my watch and scurried out the door, grabbing my go bag on my way out. Immediately, I turned on the radio when I got into my car. Music was vital to my existence. Trying not to speed, I drove straight to the Quantico office. I practically tripped on my own footing as I stepped out of the car. Nausea started to creep up my throat as I got closer and closer to the glass doors and scanned my brand new badge. I couldn't tell if it was excitement or nerves. Probably both. Mostly excitement though. I think?

Oh no, oh no no no... I swear to god if I fucking throw up on my first day...

I tried to ignore my stomach and carry on. I got into the elevator and reached the BAU floor. I stepped into the room and raked my hair back as I admired the sight in front of me.

Holy Shit. This is it. You got this! You- Fuck.

I looked over to see a group of people sitting around a desk and laughing. I saw a familiar brunette in the center, rolling her eyes.

"Guys. Shut up. It's not that bad."

A hunky man in a skin-tight t-shirt crossed his arms and chuckled, "Prentiss... It's that bad."

"You know, at the time it was probably a trend. Adolescents feel the need to fit in as much as possible-"

"Even if that means dressing up as a muppet every day." An older guy with a very stylish goatee cut in, interrupting the skinny boy who was wearing a sweater vest and khakis.

I watched as a blonde snatched a photo from the brunette and smiled, "Em, in what universe did you think this was socially acceptable?"

She was perched on the desk with her legs, which if I may add were marvelous, in the other woman's lap. The heel of her shoe was sliding up her skirt slightly. They seemed more than friendly.
