(I kinda roast Derek. Sorry not sorry.)
Walking into work, I was drained. We were immediately called in for a case the morning after girls night. You can imagine how hungover and unprepared we were. JJ's neighbor, yes neighbor, was kind enough to drive us all home so we could change. I'm pretty sure he was just excited to have a bunch of pretty hungover girls in his car, but we took what we could get and JJ seemed to trust him.
Right when I entered through the glass doors, I saw JJ waving to me dramatically to get my attention. I looked around first to make sure she was gesturing towards me. Too many times have I made that mistake. I rushed over to her office and saw her duck back inside.
"Hey JJ, what's up... Oh shit..."
I tried to hold back a laugh as I looked at Emily curled up on top of JJ's desk. It was so cute, but I could tell she was in pain.
Aww...
"She's, uh, she's having a hard time..." JJ said, inching towards the door, "I'm going to go get her some coffee. I'll be right back."
I gave her a nod and walked over to Emily. Pulling her up to sit on the edge, I matched her groaning.
"Come on, it's time for work!"
She sat up by herself and her head fell back with another reluctant noise, "Ughhh, my head is killing me! I just want to go sleep... Please..."
I was lucky that I only had a glass or two the night before... Unlike Emily who had gotten full-on wasted.
"No, no, no. We have to go to the case briefing. I wish I could just let you lay here, but we have a pretty important job. You can sleep on the plane."
"Fine," she grunted, throwing her arms over my shoulders.
I smiled and looked into her eyes for a moment. Her hands found her hips and she pulled me in.
Oh no, not now. I am not going to get in trouble with the big boss because of Miss Bad Decisions over here.
"You're a mess, but at least you're halfway done with your makeup. Where's your lipstick?" I asked, ruining the moment.
"I don't fucking know," she replied, bluntly.
"Seriously? Ok, where's your go bag?"
She squinted and she thought, then pursed her lips, "Let's just assume I don't know where anything is."
"Ugh, here..." I leaned in and kissed her to transfer my lipstick.
"Oh, shit..." Morgan walked in, eyebrows in a squiggle.
I looked over and immediately tried to explain, "No Morgan, this isn't what it looks like. Emily forgot her lipstick and-"
"This is what you girls do when you forget lipstick?"
He had a gross smirk on his face which urged anger to arise in my chest.
"You know Derek, men like you are why we feel so uncomfortable being affectionate in front of people. You fetishize us like it's some hot kink. It's disgusting."
He seemed a bit taken aback, "Look I'm sorry ladies. I know it's hard for you already. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable, I was just surprised to walk into the JJ's office and find you two makin out-"
"We- we were not making out..." Emily said, inserting herself into the conversation.
"Then you were about to be..."
It was my turn to clean this up.
"Let it go. Girls who like girls can work together without fucking each other. Get over yourself."
