tw: death, murder (I changed the case a little and there is a lot of case stuff sorry :/)

I went outside to get some fresh air and walk around. I started to just stroll around the property, letting my thoughts roam my mind.

I know that I really like Emily. It's not love, no not yet, but it's something. She's more than just a fuck-buddy or a booty-call, she makes me happy. Just thinking about her gives me butterflies. I have no idea how we are going to hide this from the team, but we have to find a way. I'm not letting this go. I can't.

I heard something from around the corner, so I rushed to see what it was. I unholstered my gun, which I had instinctively grabbed before leaving, and held it to the ground. Slowly, I crept around the corner, pointing the gun at the unidentified sound. I immediately put the weapon away and ran towards the figure in the distance.

"Penelope? Is that you?" I said as I approached her.

She looked up at me from the ground with tears in her eyes, "There's- There was nothing I could do- I- I was just coming out here to fix the router but- What do I do..."

She was holding a body in her arms. I could tell she was comforting the now dead man until he passed. Her face was drenched in tears and her glasses were lying on the grass.

What the hell.

"Penelope... What happened?" I looked over to see that he had bled out.

"He... He was just lying here and I tried to help but I didn't know what to do. I- I told him that everything would be okay, but everything is not okay. He'd dead. How could he just be dead. This is not- No this is not-"

"Penelope! Listen to me!" I cut her off, not wanting her to spiral any longer, "There was nothing you could have done."

"No, he was alive when I found him. There had to be something!" she cried, holding in the screams she truly wanted to let out.

I tried to help her understand, "He had already bled too much... you did what you could."

"No, no... This isn't right! This can't be right!"

"It's not. It's not right, but... but it's the way the world works. That's why we're here. We are trying to make a difference... As much of a difference as we can." I leaned down and helped her up from the ground.

She stumbled a little before standing upright and placing her glasses back on. I pulled her into a hug, not letting her go until her breathing leveled out. Her sniffles started to fizzle out, so I loosened my embrace to look at her.

"How is this the world we live in?" she asked, looking down.

I wiped the tears from her cheeks and brought her gaze up so I could look at her.

"I don't know. Really, I have no idea why things are like this, but they are, and it's our job to fix it. At least, try and put some of these people away. At least try and make the world a safer place to live in."

Garcia looked back at the body that was lying lifeless on the bloodied grass, then back at me.

"Let's catch this motherfucker."

That's my girl.

I gave her another hug and guided her back inside the motel.

We found Hotch and informed him of the murder. The sun was rising and everyone started to pile into the lobby.

"Where's Prentiss?" Reid asked as he sat down.

We all looked around and noticed she hadn't joined us. JJ looked at me and I rushed up the stairs to get her. She took over holding Garcia for the time being and was trying to calm her down and little more.
