Halloween at Hogwarts was arguably the most important celebration of the year. There was always a ginormous feast and the little kids ran around banging on peoples dorms asking for candy which made them all bubbly and more exhausting than normal with their stupid sugar highs. In contrast the older kids tended to locate to small rooms and sit around playing games or getting on there own kind of high.
You headed down to the great hall for breakfast, for once Halloween was actually on a Saturday and you could not have been more happy. You sat down at the Gryffindor table and joined in a conversation with Ron and Hermione.
"Honestly Ronald just because it is a holiday does not mean I will be doing anything of the sort" She sternly said, raising her eyebrow as she did so, pulling a face you knew too well to contradict.
"But Hermiooonneeeeee, why be so dull, Harry's even going to try it this year" He argued. You had no clue what they were arguing about but it was so entertaining to watch you dare not interrupt and ruin the moment.
"Ronald! I am a sophisticated human being. I do not want to be doing such a treacherous act. I mean, imagine the repercussions if we get caught, imagine the brain damage it will cause. Huh Ron, what are you going to do when I become a vegetable and can't protect you with my spells or give you the potions homework. NOW THAT IS IT. I want no more to do with this conversation" Hermione had so much authority and power it awed you.
"Ooo trouble in paradise" A voice rang from behind us
"The honey moon appears to be over so soon Freddie" Another replied in the same mimicky tone.
"Oh shut up" Ron scoffed as he looked down at his plate.
The table was silent for a moment, then Hermione got up and left to go study in the library, even though it was a holiday.
"So, what were you two arguing about" You asked Ron, curious to finally know what on earth it was that you had actually just witnessed.
He shook his head and said "she's just so bloody uptight, I got gifted some 'Halloween fun' and she won't even try it with us".
Of course it made perfect sense, the boys didn't think about things the same way as Hermione, they just wanted to have a good time. She was wiser than the rest of us and so her objection made me fear what I had already signed up to do with Fred and George.
The twins seemed to have read my mind Fred jokingly hit my shoulder and told me not to back out.
Leading up to the feast all I wanted to do was prank people and so we did. At first we went to the clock tower and began to throw stink bombs down at people, Fred and George had borrowed the Marauders map off of Harry so that we could see Umbitch coming.
We then went to the Hufflepuff common room, they have no password, as all are welcome or some sappy bullshit like that. The massive bowl of treats lay ready for the first years trick or treating and so we laced it with laughing potion, Fred did suggest pucking pastilles but we agreed it'd be too mean and more importantly we didn't want kids throwing up in the Gryffindor common room.
"Hey Ash!" George suddenly shouted alerting far too many Hufflepuff's to our ware abouts for my liking.
"Yes" I sighed, "George". My voice had a twang of sarcasm, had he not realised he had spent almost the whole day with me.
"You know who we should prank" He teased, his eyes were filled with excitement and mischief.
"Oh George you are a mastermind" Fred said jumping up and down. How on earth he knew who he was thinking I will never know, it could just be magic or a twin thing, honestly they are just so similar it's like talking to one person sometimes.
