Chapter 22

I walked up to the roof. Whenever i felt like life was moving too fast i would go up to the roof. I would watch the stars and moon. It would feel calming to me. As i walk upstairs and outside i see AJ sitting down on the cold floor looking up at the sky. He was wearing a quilt over him. 

"AJ, is that you?" I ask getting suspicious of what he's doing here. 

"Hi!" AJ says looking at me. 

I walk over to him and sit down beside him. 

"What are you doing up here all alone? Are you not cold?" I ask him and put my hands around him. 

"I am counting the stars," AJ says and looks up again. 

He gets up from where he's sitting and comes to sit on my lap. I chuckle. 

"Do you wanna help me count the stars?" AJ asks. 

"Yeah sure," I say, and lookup. 

The night sky looked so pretty. It was filled with starlight. The moon shined down at AJ. It made him shine. 

"Can i ask you something?" AJ asks suddenly. 

"Yeah of course sweetie," I reply back.

He gets up and turns around so that he's facing me. 

"You love Harish, right?" AJ asks. 

"Of course i do. I love you too" I say, and tickle him on his stomach. He chuckles. His chuckle was so cute and innocent. 

"What does it mean when you tell someone you love them?" AJ asks looking at me. 

"Oh, that's a hard question!" I say taking a deep breath. 

"Why?" AJ asks instantly. 

I take my hand up to his hair and move it to the side, so it doesn't cover his eyes. 

"Because it's very different from person to person," I say.

"But, what do you mean when you tell Harish you love him?" AJ asks and smiles. 

"When i tell Harish i love him... i love all of him. His flaws, his insecurities, the side he doesn't want to share with the world. When i say i love Harish i am saying that i would never hurt him in any way. When i say i love Harish i am saying that i would do anything just to see him smile. " I say while looking at AJ. AJ smiles. 

"I love you, Divya!" AJ says and leans into me. 

"Awww I love you too, Arjun!" I say while hugging him.

Arjun gets up from my lap. 

"Do you want to come downstairs with me?" AJ asks. 

"I'll come in a bit," I say, and smile towards him. 

He starts walking towards the stairs, but then he stops. 

"Hey, Divya?" AJ calls at me. 

"Hmm?" I reply looking at him. 

"Sometimes when i look at my brother and you, i get a feeling that God put you guys together," AJ says, and then he turns around continuing to walk. 

I closed my eyes and felt a tear come down my cheek. That was the sweetest thing anyone had ever said to me. 

An instant rage of sadness came upon me. I started crying. I was trying not to make a sound. I didn't want anyone to come up here. Thought after thought appeared. I felt so sad, and i didn't know how to stop. My heart was beating so fast, and my hands started to shake. I didn't know what was wrong with me. My stomach hurt like hell from crying, but i couldn't stop. My eyes got blurry, and i couldn't see anything. Suddenly i started howling. I couldn't stop. I was screaming, and shouting..."Help!!! It hurts!!". I shouted very loud. 

Within a couple of minutes, Harish came up. My parents and AJ appeared behind him. 

"Hey...what's wrong. Shhhh, calm down. Nothing is going to happen. Shhhh" Harish says and holds around me. 

"Harish it hurts so much, please make it stop. Make it stop! Harish it hurts." I shout even louder.

"Call 911 now!" Harish shouts. My mum runs downstairs. 

My dad runs over to me, to try to make me stop crying. 

"AJ go downstairs now!" Harish gets frustrated. He has water in his eyes. 

Suddenly everything stops. I can't see anything or hear anything. Everything is black. 

After what i thought was a couple of moments i open my eyes. It is incredibly white, and light. I squint my eyes. 

"She's awake!" A recognizable voice shouts. 

I slowly open my eyes and see a white roof. I try to get up, but Harish comes up beside me. 

"What happened? Where am i?" I say stretching my arms. 

As i have opened my eyes fully i see all of my friends. Suriya, Karthik, Sneha, Tara, and Harish. 

"We were so worried," Tara says and walks closer to me. She comes up beside me and hugs me. 

It looked like she had cried. 

"Where are my parents?" I ask getting worried. 

"They are getting you food," Harish says and kisses me on my forehead. 

Then i realized i was in the hospital. 

"What happened, why am i here?" I ask confusingly. 

I look around at everyone. It looked like they had been crying. 

"Can someone please explain to me what happened?" I say starting to get teary. 

I get up and sit properly. Harish helps me. 

"You scared me so much!" Harish says and takes my hand in his. 

"You had a panic attack Divya!" Sneha says drying her eyes.

Harish starts to get water in his eyes. Harish starts to sniffle. 

Harish gets up and turns around. I grab his hands and pull him closer to me. 

"Hey...look at me....look at me. Harish!" I say pulling me closer to me. 

"On the roof...I just couldn't." Harish cracks. He starts crying. 

I get up on my knees, so i can reach him. I take his face in my hands. 

"Hey.....look at me. It's okay. You don't need to be strong. I'm here. I'm okay." I say trying to calm him down. 

"I couldn't do anything. I just stood there." Harish says, trying to turn around again, but i stop him. 

"Hey...stop. That's not true. It's not your fault. You called an ambulance, and i am here now. I feel fine. I love you." I say still trying to keep calm him down. 

I hear some quick footsteps going towards the door. I look behind me and see Suriya leave the room. 

"I don't want to celebrate my birthday" Krish jumps into the conversation. A tear runs down his cheek. 

I let go of Harish. He walks over to Karthik and stands beside him. 

"Hey...stop that. We are celebrating your birthday. We're gonna have fun, and we will forget all of this." I say trying to convince him. 

"Divya, i can't after this...." Krish says holding back his tears. 

"Hey....come here. Look at me." Krish walks closer. I take his hands in mine. 

"We are not canceling your birthday. You hear me. It was just a panic attack. It's not gonna happen again. I promise. Besides, i have a surprise for all of you guys" I say smiling at them. 

I take my hand up to Krish's face and dry his tears away.
