Levi had set up his own shop while Hange became a historian, compiling the events that transpired before and after the rumbling. Mikasa had finally got out more thanks to Jean. Mikasa was helping Levi with bringing the package to the store, Jean would come along too. Mikasa would try her best to avoid Jean.
Mikasa held some boxes in her arms, before a hand got ahold of her. She looked to see Jean who was staring at her like a puppy who was abandoned by its owner.
"Mikasa, you've been avoiding me. lately."
"I haven't. I've just stopped going to you because I don't want to hurt you and lead you on." Mikasa mentally facepalmed herself, knowing the hypocrisy that weighed in her words. Mikasa had been using him up until the moment, the only reason she stopped is because she fell ill and if she weren't sick she'd probably end up in his arms, coiled in bed with him. But her guilty subconscious grew too knowing that it was wrong of her; she no longer wanted to betray Eren, that was her excuse.
She pulled away from Jean's hold. "Mikasa, wait." Her grabbed her wrist. "You look pale, are you feeling alright?" Jean looked at her with concern, worried about her well-being.
"Jean, you don't have to worry over me." She said, coldly, roughly pulling her hand away from Jean's grip and continued on her way, holding the heavy boxes. All of a sudden, she felt dizzy, her head began to spin and she started to feel a sharp pain that felt like a needle stabbing in her stomach. Before she knew it, she had fainted. Her vision became blurry and then it all turned black. She could still hear Jean screaming her name and the commotion around her.
"Congratulations, you're a father." Confusion followed by a joyful mood flashed through him. He was thinking of the time where Mikasa distanced herself from him and suddenly everything made sense why she possibly did that, probably to hide her pregnancy from Jean.
"Did you know of her pregnancy?" The doctor inquired, lifting an eyebrow at Jean who was still speechless and in utter shock.
"No, she never told me." Jean finally said.
"I told you they did the deed." Levi said, his arms crossed.
"I thought they only might've cuddled. Also, don't you think it's not the time for this" Hange said trying to divert the bets they did.
"Still, remember what you owe me, Hange." Hange slumped in her chair, defeated at the bet they did that night in the cabin.
Out of nowhere, Jean and the others heard a cry of pain. Everyone perked up to see what the commotion was about. The doctor turned around, looking rather concerned and worrisome.
A nurse rushed to the doctor, she looked at Jean who quickly noted her frantic and antsy movements then at the doctor and leaned into his ear. "We urgently need you Dr, Freir, she's recoiling in pain."
"I'll come back to you in a moment."
"
"I uhh forgot to mention, She bled which isn't normal for a pregnancy indicating she may not only lose the child but her life as well if she continues to bleed out."
"What? How? You just said I was going to be a father a second ago" The once uplifted mood in the room fell out of the window.
"I didn't want to worry you. We thought it could have been a mistake but her scream seems to confirm it isn't. I must go back, there can be a way to save the child"
The doctor rushed inside. "You bastard. If she wasn't okay you could have just told me instead of keeping it away"
"Let me go in. I want to see her!" Jean demanded, trying to make his way inside but the nurses, Hange and Levi held him back. "Jean, use your brain. You will waste them time saving Mikasa and your child. They know what they're doing. Be patient." Levi said,
