Mikasa's heart gradually bloomed for Jean. He had successfully squeezed into her caged heart, opening it up for him.
"I bought the land as a birthday gift to you Mikasa. Remember our time in the cabin? It's the land where the cabin is located next to the springs .It's for you and I and our growing family"
"Jean...What did I do to deserve this? I put you through so many burdens how could you ever think of giving me something far too valuable to someone like me?"
"Didn't it work out in the end?"
"All this time, it's only ever been you that I love and adore . I don't care if that guy is still in your heart but only from now and onwards would you allow me to remain in your heart?"
When Mikasa fell in love with Jean
Mikasa looked out of the window from the living area, watching Jean who was fond with the kids of their neighborhood. They seemed to take a liking to Jean, always around him and giving him high fives, they looked up to the tall man who exuded brave and confident wherever he went. Mikasa watched him, a light fluttering feeling blossomed in her heart. This feeling was foreign to Mikasa and she was flabblerghasted by the sudden feeling in her heart she had never felt before.
Jean glanced up at her, he caught her looking at him and gave her an endearing smile and gave a shy wave at her. Mikasa looked at him, returning the gesture.
He came inside and went to Mikasa, snuggling in her arms.
"Mikasa, I'm home."
"Welcome, home Jean."
"Say, there's a place I've been dying to go with you. Would you come along?
"I much oblige."
They came to an enchanted forest, in it there was a a vast river with lush greenery dispersed everywhere as though this place was from fairytale. A meadow of ploppy flowers covered the landscape. The vast river had a bridge built over it and there were many cherry blossom trees. Jean lent a hand to Mikasa and she took it, he guided her to the his favorite spot, in the fore center of the bridge where you could reach your hands on a cherry blossom tree.
"Why;d you lead me here?"
"I want to watch the setting sun in this beautiful place with you Mikasa, And this place seems to be the right spot to spend all my free time with you, love."
"It is indeed a beautiful place."
Mikasa sneaked a glance at Jean. Her eyes examined his fine features. His long beautiful lashes fluttered, his vibrant enchanting golden eyes glimmered ever so vibrantly and his strong defining cheek bone was resplendant against the sun. She didn't feel the way her mouth dropped slightly as she took in his beauty. How did it take her so long to notice how exceedingly handsome he was? She didn't know but right now, she was taking in his dazzling face. He glanced at her, showing more of his beautiful sculpted features. Her breath hitched and she was caught looking at him wide eyed.
"Mikasa?" Jean was waving his hand at her. She hadn't noticed how distracted she was of Jean's face.
"Y-yes?" She suddenly stuttered. Mikasa had never stuttered around Jean and it was her first time to ever feel so shy around him. She swallowed her saliva and tucked a stand of hair behind her ear, growing more aghast by her reaction.
She could hear her heart thump inside her chest, and blood rise from her ears. This feeling, so foreign. It has been so long since she had felt this way and this whirpool feeling , she had thought died with Eren but now, her heart felt an even deeper shade of warmness that even with Eren was never this strong.
"Mikasa!" His eyes looked at her with alarm.
"Your cheeks are burning up. Are you perhaps sick?" Jean placed his hand on her head, and both of her cheeks to confirm if she was sick. His eyes were reeling her in and she could not stop to gaze at him. Her heart began to bloom
She placed her hand over his that held her cheek. She clasped his hand, holding it in her hands in a tender manner.
"Jean, remember the time I said I would try my best to try to love you?" She paused looking at him. Jean nodded, his eyes visibly confused as to why she brought up some memory he had long forgotten and suppressed.
"At this moment, Jean. I more than care for you.."
Mikasa paused for a moment, her cheeks puffy as if to hold in the next few words that were about to be exposed, "I think I've fallen for you."
Jean's lips parted, he stood there for a moment, taking in what she said wondering if he had imagined Mikasa's sweet words of confession but it was real, she had finally return his feeling. At last, the long lasting unrequited love had come to an end. The yearning, the longing and the long wait was over. Jean's face turned soft, gazing her lovingly as he had done for all these years with her and this time too, Mikasa looked at him with the same gaze, her once dimming eyes glowed and shimmered with love.
Jean never imagined to be the center of her world. He had always seen Mikasa give that look to Eren only and he always wished he was in place of Eren to have the unrelenting love and devotion Mikasa had for Eren. And now that his dream came true, he couldn't feel any more happier and like he reached his true purpose in his life. Mikasa looked at him, tears streaming down her cheeks with a sincere smile on her face. These weren't tears of grief or sadness, these were tears of joy. Jean felt emotional along with her, a few tears escaped from his eyes. He placed his hands on her waist, twirling her around, the emotions overflowing with the two of them.
"I love you so much with every fiber of my being." He said softly, pecking a kiss on her forehead.
"Now that I have your heart and you have mine." Jean knelt down to her.
"Will you marrv me?" Mikasa gasped, she cried once more and nodded her head.
"Welcome to my dream, Mikasa. I hope you stay permenantly by my side for the rest of my days. Now and forever."
