Jean snaked his arms around Mikasa's waist pulling her a little roughly against his chest, he nuzzled his face in the crook of her neck. Showering her with small kisses on her neck while making his way to her jawline. Her brows furrowed in confusion before she put on a facade and smiled slightly, her hands placed on his chest. "Mikasa. May I kiss you."
Mikasa shifted uncomfortably in her place, she untwined his firm hands from her waist and pulled them to his side.
"Not now Jean, I'm busy." Jean sighed deeply, noticing Mikasa's obvious discomfort and the way she avoided his affection, he left without saying a word to her.
Jean had naively thought that their stay in the cabin, had improved their relationship but as always Mikasa had built an impenetrable barrier around herself. Instead of taking a step forward they had went back to square one and maybe the reason of Eren's appearance and departure had made Mikasa more reserved and distant from Jean.
Jean's heart began to greedily gnaw at him, he tried his best to suppress that horrid feeling of greed. He wanted Mikasa's love, affection and most of all to have her heart. but he knew it was best to not force her, taking small steps at a time to eventually reach her heart.
Jean took his time to get home, taking a long path so he could be away from Mikasa for awhile, He was taking slow steps when he came upon a fortune teller's tent. He stood by it, pondering whether or not to try for the hell of it until he quickly made up his mind he'd try it this once.
He entered the place and right at the center of the tent was an old lady with a globe and some crystals on the table.
"Greeting gentleman, may you take a seat?" The older woman gestured him. Jean sat down looking at her with doubt but also with great interest.
"What are the things you want to know?"
"I'd like to know who's in this woman heart?' Jean handed her his heart locket necklace which contained the picture of Mikasa inside of it.
¨Let me take a look. There's a man with green eyes that remains in her heart. You may have her body but not her heart, her heart stays in one place."¨-fortune lady
His eyes widened and he felt his heart break.
"That's all I want to hear for today, thanks" Jean got out his currency and placed the money on the table, taking his leave. He placed his hands in the pocket of his coat. He wanted to drink, drink away all the pain he felt.
Jean had come home drunk, he walked up the stairs with a beer in hand and sat at the balcony of the stairs, laying back leisurely on the sofa.
"Darling, come to bed." Mikasa called out to Jean as she pressed her body against the door of their room. It was meant to sound sweet to his ears, hearing Mikasa use an affectionate nickname to him as it was rare for her to do so. Instead, the words stung like venom knowing she wasn't saying it out of pure love sino(otherwise), they were just words to her, words with no meaning.
"Don't tell me, Jean, did you come home drunk?" Mikasa straightened herself. Jean , holding the beer in his hand, waved it exasperatedly, spilling it on the floor. "So what if I am? I'm drinking my sorrows away because you still hold that bastard in your heart." He hicupped as he spoke.
"What are you talking about?"
Jean got up, intimidatingly getting closer to Mikasa, she took a few steps away from him but felt the wall behind her back.
"You know what I mean. You still love Eren, don't you, Mikasa." He sighed, running his hands through his hair to compose himself. He turned his gaze to Mikasa, looking for an answer, his eyes sharp.
