Chapter 14

Alex's P.o.v

We're still currently on the jet. I looked over at a peaceful sleeping Dani. I smiled slightly to myself. She makes everything she does seem so flawless and easy.

I was knocked out of trance by Kara throwing an empty water bottle at me.

"Hey. Watch it!" I said.
She giggled. "Sorry. Just trying to save you from hurting yourself again." She said slowly turning to look out the window.

Kara was right. I can't keep holding onto my feelings for Dani. She moved on and so should I. "You think her and Lena are taking things serious?" I questioned Kara.

"Honestly, Alex I do. They seem like things are going very well between them. I'm sorry." She explained with a saddened look.

I sighed and shifted in my seat. "Yeah I guess you're right. They seem perfect together."

Lena's p.o.v

After Dani had left for her last minute trip, I decided to get ready for work. I grabbed my belongings and left quickly to my apartment so I can change.

While driving to work, I couldn't help but think how weird it was that Dani had a last minute business trip. How come I didn't know about it? I'm usually informed about any trips going on within the corporation.

I arrived at the building and decided to talk to one of my fellow colleagues. I asked if they knew about any recent or current trips and everyone said no.

Could Dani be lying? What could she possibly be doing right now? So many questions filled my head. Maybe I'm just being insecure. I've been hurt so many times I always assume the worst.

I decided to just distract myself with paper work and other task I needed to complete today.

After hours of non stop working, I still had the thought of the blue eyed girl on my mind. I decided to text her and see what she was up to.

Hey! Everything is going good. I landed safely. Just doing some business here. I should be back before you know it. Miss you <3

I decided to drop my overthinking and continued to do whatever work I had to finish in the office today.

Dani's pov

After a long flight we finally landed. I'm not sure what type of business we're here on so I decided to go ask Winn.
" Hey man, do you know why exactly we're here? No on informed me." I asked him.

"Yeah, there's some reports of an unknown species here so we came to check it out. We need you since you're the doctor and you know have powers like Kara" he said trailing off at the end.

I just nodded and walked off towards the tents they had set up. We were in the middle of nowhere. Somewhat like a dessert. And it was super hot. I wasn't prepared for this type of weather considering I had a black button up shirt on. I walked toward my tent where I'll be staying the night in and decided to change into something more appropriate. As I walked I unbuttoned my shirt one by one just to release some heat. I saw Alex out of the corner of my eye staring my way and almost tripping over her own foot.
