CHAPTER 11: The Ignorance (Part 2)

I woke up to a string of texts from Alizeh the next morning.

Alizeh: "What classes do we have today?"

Varun: "No greetings today, direct questions about work, good going. I don't know which classes we have, but I will go only to DS."

Alizeh: "Areyy I woke up just now and same!"

Varun: "Okay, everything good na? How are you feeling now? Tell me."

Alizeh: "Yes, I am good now!"

Varun: "Are you sure? Don't hide anything from me. We promised each other we will not stop sharing. We trust each other fully, right?"

Alizeh: "Yes, we do. And no, I am not hiding anything!"

Varun: "Okay then, if you want to talk, I am right here!"

Alizeh: "Yes, I know!"

We didn't text each other after that, but we met in class. Alizeh was different that day. She barely looked at me while talking and didn't greet me or talk to me much. We were all sitting together with our classmates waiting for the professor to arrive, and she talked to everyone else but me. It was as though those guys cared for her day and night, while I did nothing. That hurt me a lot, so I got up and went outside the class to stand alone.

I thought Alizeh would come after me as she had done in the past, but she didn't. She didn't even care if I was upset or not and didn't bother to ask me that day, except for one time when I entered the class again and kept looking at her. She asked, "What? Did anything happen?" And I replied, "No, everything is perfectly fine". That day was different, and I was certain she was avoiding me. Even Akash asked me if everything was okay between us, as he felt that Alizeh was acting differently toward me. I didn't know what to say to him, as I was still trying to figure it out myself.

As the class came to an end, she left without so much as a goodbye, leaving me feeling bewildered and hurt. I couldn't help but wonder, had I really deserved to be treated that way after everything I had done for her? The uncertainty of what was to come filled me with dread. If her behavior continued like this, I knew that eventually, I would have to leave her behind.

When I reached my room, I decided not to text her that night. If she truly cared, she would reach out to me. And if not, then I would understand that there was nothing left to mend.

As I lay on my bed that night, I couldn't help but think about what had happened earlier that day. I never would have expected her to treat me that way. Whether she had done it intentionally or not, her actions had made me feel completely alone. I couldn't understand why she was treating me this way, or what I had done to deserve it.

Just ten days ago, her behavior had been entirely different. She had made it seem like she was willing to leave her boyfriend for me. But now, everything was different. It was as if she was a completely different person.

I couldn't help but feel that she was unable to handle everything, despite what she had said before. I didn't care about her decision, but I did care about our bond, which was now severely strained because of her actions. She wasn't messaging me, talking to me properly, or behaving like we were friends anymore. I was still the same, but she was the one who had changed. It left me feeling lost and unsure of what to do next.

All of these small things keep building up inside me, and I don't know when I'm going to break. But I know it's coming, and I'm positive that when I do cry, she won't be there to handle it like she always promised. Her behavior towards me has been so different lately, and it hurts to be treated this way. If she had a problem with me, why couldn't she have just said something? Instead, she chose to ignore and avoid me, which is a thousand times worse. I don't want to lose her over something stupid like this, but I also can't continue to be treated like this. All I want is for her to talk to me like she used to and to stop ignoring me like I don't matter.
