7. Bruises & Cigarettes

"She is coming back now, get her some water – immediately, Lupin", a voice said as someone wiped the hair out of her face. "She's still cold, some blankets should help. Weasley–", "On my way Professor." Fred said and his steps faded away. Rose opens her eyes and blinks for a few times. She's in a dim room – candles have lighten up the room nicely, Weasley twins' dorm room. Rose looks around and sees Professor Snape having a concerned look on her. He asks how she is feeling right now and Rose tells that she is doing fine. She explains how she has no idea what had happened and that hear head is aching badly. Lupin brings a glass of water and sets it down on the side table. He is now looking at her further away and talking to Fred who had brought the blankets. George is sleeping on his bed as Rose is laying on Fred's. As Fred sees that Rose is fully awake, he sits right next to her. He takes her hand in his and squeezes it gently, it makes Rose smile and her heart is beating. "How on earth you manage to get into trouble little one..", he sighs and rubs her palm. "You scared the hell out of us, out of all of us", he continues as Snape comes back with something – "Drink this, it should help with the aching and the coldness." She drinks the liquid which tastes like ashes, it has a hash texture and it smells like rotten pumpkin pie. "That– was disgusting", she says and yucks. Snape laugh, yes, Rose heard right, Snape laughed and says "Well it is not butterbeer for sure", and takes the drink away.

Lupin sat down on Rose and said "How did you managed to attract a Dementor on you Miss Winterbell?", Rose shakes her head and says that she has no idea. She is rather curious who and how people found her. Lupin explains how the twins had been worried about you and asked for help. Professor Snape and he had found her outside of the castle yards and being attacked by a dementor. "Why were you running away Rose?", Fred asks and tilts his head. She hesitates for a moment before answering, "Krum, I don't want anything to do with him, he betrayed me once and I am not giving him the chance to do so again", Rose says and gets up. She walks slowly towards George who is still asleep. She burshes the tiny hair strand from his forehead and kneels down. "He took this kinda roughly Rose", Fred says and puts his hand on her shoulder. 

They sit there in silence for a moment. Rose lets her head lean against Fred's shoulder and he has wrapped his arm around her back. She is looking at George whose chest is rising and falling down peacefully. 

As the Professors see that Rose is doing fine they'll leave telling, that they will be in contact with her tomorrow and that Rose should be heading back to her own dorm soon. As the door closes Fred smiles "I don't mind you staying here, if thats what you would like to do", he says and smirks. "I– I can go I don't want to be a bother and–", she tries to explain before Fred hushes her. "Hush now, I know how things are between you two and I am more than happy about it, you've been good for my brother and I appreciate you. You really are fun to be around Rose, never forget that", he says and give Rose a tender smile. Rose nods and sits next to George, brushing his hair and looking at him. "Goodnight little one, see you in the morning" Fred says and blows out the candles. It is dark so Rose casts Lumos and goes to closet and tries to find something to wear. She finds a shift with a letter 'G' on it and puts it on. She snuggles next to George and kisses his cheek – falling asleep knowing she's safe.

The morning shines through the curtains and Rose is waken up by the fresh air flowing up against her skin. She opens her eyes and realizes that George is still asleep. Fred in the other hand is sitting by the window and smoking his cigarette. Rose gets up and wraps a fuzzy blanket around her shoulders. She walks to Fred and says good morning to him.
