*Little time skip*
"Alright, Grace and Luke. Please get your backpacks. I'm going to drive you to school." Dad said as I finished up doing the dishes from the past couple of days. I dried them and put them away. "Okay," Luke said as Grace and himself grabbed their bags. "Alright, see you guys later," I said as I pulled the drain out of the sink.
"Bye Sky." Luke and Grace said before they walked out of the apartment. "Bye Sky, stay safe." dad said as he walked out of the apartment, leaving me there. Dad closed the door. I looked around the apartment before I took my sunglasses off of the collar of my shirt. I put them on as I walked over to my backpack. I picked it up and carried it to my room. I put the bag on my bed and started to take everything out of it.
Well, everything that I don't need. Stuff like notebooks, books, sketchbooks, and a few other things. For obvious reasons, I left my apartment keys in the bag along with the GPS that dad put in the bag. He put the GPS in my bag so if I go missing with the bag.
I zipped up the now empty bag before putting it on my back. I looked around the room before I walked out of the room. I went straight for the door. I opened the door before I closed the door I made sure the door was locked. I took a breath which much to my dismay, my lungs filled with the smell of smoke. I coughed the second that my lungs filled with the horrid smell.
I waved my hand in front of my face as I walked out of the hall and down the many stairs until I got to the main floor of the building.
I walked out of the building and took a big breath of fresh air. I let out a few more coughs before my lungs weren't filled with the smell of smoke anymore. "Are you okay?" Someone asked. I turned to face who was talking. "Hi, I'm Charles Xavier. One of your mates," he said with a smile on his face.
"Nice to meet you, Charles, and yeah. I'm fine. Just someone in the apartment building was smoking again. Me plus smoke doesn't do good." I said as I looked up at the floor that I live on. I looked back at Charles. He nodded his head. I cleared my throat as a car honked its horn making me look over at it.
Charles cleared his throat, making me look over at him. "Where are you head?" He asked. "Out," I said making him chuckle. I smirked at him. "Yeah, well. I see that." He said making me chuckle. "No way, really?" I said.
I gasped. "What gave that away?" I asked, making him smile even more. I couldn't help but smile, not being able to keep a straight face. "Would you like to come with me?" I asked. "If that's okay with you." He said. "Well, I did just ask," I said.
"Yeah, I guess you did," he said with a smile on his face. I smiled back at him before I started to walk down the street, with Charles at my left side. "So, Charles. What do you do for a living? Seeing that you are older than me." I asked. "Well, own a school for gifted kids. Kids with gifts that society sees as something bad." Charles answered.
I nodded my head, kind of knowing what he was talking about. I may not have gifts like he said, but I know a thing or two about society not accepting who someone is. "To be honest, never was a fan of principals," I said as I looked at Charles with a smile.
"Well, I'm not just a teacher. I'm one of the people that, the kids that go to my school, can trust. My friends and I are some of the only people that treat the kids as equals. No matter what happens, we are there for them." Charles said.
I nodded my head, telling him that I understand what he is saying. "Well, I guess the kids that go to your school and I will get along," I said as I looked at him. I then looked ahead at the sidewalk.
"If I may, what do you mean?" Charles asked. "Well, let's just say a kid with one part, two siblings, and a whole butt load of mate gets a lot of the wrong attention," I said.
"I loved my life. I went to school, I had a few friends, I had two parents. Everything was amazing. Then my mom died while giving birth to my siblings. Then, I got sick. I was diagnosed with cancer. After a very long surgery, I was told that I was in the clear. Only to end up stepping in as a somewhat mother figure for my siblings." I said.
"I ended up dropping out of school. Getting two jobs to help my dad pay the bills. With that, I was bullied by old classmates that knew where I worked. Soon it seemed that everyone knew about my horrible life." I added. I looked over at him. "Well, just because you are different than others, that does not mean that your other mates and me.....will not treat you like everyone else. We will be the ones that you can talk to whenever you need to. We will be the ones that will love you until the end of the world." Charles said.
I looked down at the sidewalk as I listened. "We will be the ones that will fight for you. We will be there to keep you safe. No matter the cost." he added. I smiled and looked over at him. "And the same goes for me," I said, making him smile.
I walked up to a book store. "Well, I would love to stay with you longer, but I have to go. See you around Skylar." Charles said, making me look over at him. He smiled before he walked away from me. I smiled and turned into the book store. I pushed the door open before I walked into the store. My lungs filling with the smell of a book store. I smiled at the person that is behind the desk before I walked to one of the many aisles that are filled with books.
