"Skylar, can you walk your siblings to school? I have to get to the station." my dad, Henry, said as he poured coffee into one of the traveling mugs that I ended up cleaning yesterday. "Yeah," I said. He smiled at me. "Thanks, kiddo. See you tonight," he said before he walked over to me. He kissed my forehead. "Bye, Luke. Bye, Grace. See you after school." he called out before he walked to the door of the house. "Bye, dad." They replied before he closed the door to the apartment.
I smiled as I looked at the time. "Guys, it's time to head out," I said. "Be right there," Grace said. I grabbed my backpack that has everything I need it. It has my wallet, my driver's license (That I never get to use), my watch, and a few other things like a pencil and notebook.
I put my backpack on my back before I looked to see Luke and Grace walking to me with their backpacks on their backs.
I smiled as I made sure that I had my apartment key. "You guys ready to go?" I asked. "Yeah," Luke answered for the both of them.
"Well, let's get going," I said as I walked to the apartment door. I opened it before walking out of the apartment, by siblings behind me. I made sure the door was closed and locked before I turned to face the hallway. Luke grabbed my left hand and Grace grabbed my right hand before the three of us started to walk out of the building.
"So, what are you guys going to do today?" I asked once we got to the street. "Well, today we are supposed to learn about fractions," Luke answered. "Yeah, and we also get to play basketball in Phy ED," Grace added.
"That sounds like fun," I said as we got closer to their school. "It is not. I don't understand it whatsoever. It is so boring. All you do is run and try to get an orange ball in a hoop." Luke said making me smile and look at him.
I shook my head as we got to the start of the sidewalk that leads to the school. "Right, are you two okay, to walk the rest of the way yourselves?" I asked. They both let go of my hands and walked a little way ahead of me. They turned around to face me.
"Is dad taking us to see you tonight?" Grace asked. "Yeah, just like always," I said. She nodded her head. "Bye, Skylar. See you then." Luke said before he grabbed his twin's hand. The two of them turned around and started to walk to the school.
I smiled at them before I started to walk to the cafe that I work at, which is only a few blocks away from their school.
On my way to the cafe, I couldn't help but enjoy the cool April weather. All the snow is almost gone, there are only a few piles that are on the sides of the streets. The birds are back and they are chirping while why fly by. The sun is up and there are only a few clouds in the sky that cover the sun every so often.
I saw the cafe making me smile and walk to the door. The second I walked into the cafe, my nose was hit with the smell of fresh pastries and the fresh smell of coffee. I walked so I was behind the counter. My ears filled with the sound of the pop music that is playing almost year-round.
"Good, you're here Skylar. Go take care of your backpack and get started on serving customers." my boss said. I nodded my head and walked to the back.
I put my backpack in my locker that the boss has for all the workers. I closed the locker door before I grabbed my apron, which I have to wear for no reason whatsoever. I took a breath of the coffee-filled air before I walked up to the counter. "Hi, can I have a cookie and a small black coffee?" someone asked me. This is going to be a long day.
*Time skip*
"Alright, Skylar. Your shift is done." my boss said after I handed someone their hot chocolate. I looked over at him before I walked to the back. I took my apron off and put it inside my locker. "Hey, Skylar. Are you heading to the bar and grill?" another worker asked me as I grabbed my backpack.
"Yeah, I have to be there in an hour," I answered as I put my backpack on my back. "Well, will I be seeing you tomorrow?" the worker asked as I closed the locker door. "If nothing comes up, then yes, you will see me tomorrow," I said making the worker nod their head. I shook my head at them before I walked to the main doors.
I said goodbye to my boss before I walked out of the cafe. Yeah, I still have four more hours to work. How fun. I took a breath of fresh air as I made my way to the bar and grill. At least the bar and grill don't open until four-thirty, so when I get there I have about half an hour to do whatever before the doors open.
