"What was she like when she was young?"
"She was always sweet and kind, so cute let me show you" her mum smiled as she disappeared around the corner.
"Mum doesn't know about her teenage years, she wasn't that sweet" Jia laughed looking at Alexander she leaned in and gestured for them to come closer.
"I dont remember her being kind either" Alexander scoffed at the memories "she use to torture us and she was a lot meaner than any of us"
They both looked at Jia, as her expression changed from mischievous to serious "she took out the side mirror before she was licensed" Alexander looked at him waiting for a response or reaction, he looked at them both waiting for more.
"She has done worse" Jia laughed.
"Wait what worse? She told me only that" as Jia raised her head to check if mum was close. "She had made a paint bomb once and it worked, she didn't tell me more than that" as she giggled and Alexander gasped.
"She never ceases to amaze me.. past boyfriends?" as they both stared at his response he chuckled.
"None that we know of" Jia smiled at him.
"Too busy creating chaos" Alexander wasn't too happy about being left out.
"She wasnt into boys, she never bought anyone home until you. In fact I don't remember her dating in school either" she was puzzled.
"She had boys chasing her though, not one day I didn't see her with canteen food" he looked at Jia as she nodded "or perhaps she hid it well.." they had both been puzzled.
"Shhh not a word to Amara" he chuckled as Jia straightened up when they saw their mum coming."Here she is.." her mum showing him an album of her. She was cute then too. "Amara was always adventurous and warm, she showed her feelings and always helped me when she could. She loved baking and desserts at this age" she looked to be about 8 years old in the picture.
He marvelled at her bangs, her cheeks and her bright grey eyes. They lit up like the grey night sky, he saw parts of Deiji in these photos as her mum flipped through the book.
"We are back" as she walked back in with her dad and bags of shopping. He watched her dad go straight to her mum, they unpacked the groceries.
"I will always go to you first from now on" he whispered into her hair.
"When are we ever apart?" she giggled at him as her parents turned to them.
"He was just saying how much he admired you two" she shot him a look.
"It takes work" her mum wasn't wrong, they had gone through so much.
"She is a lot of work" as her dad chuckled and her mum eyed him unimpressed. As she started cooking with her dad, he played card games with her mum and the twins. Her youngest brother Landon always did his own thing but watched them.
"So tell us the first time you came.. it was because of Deiji?" he nodded.
"I am sorry for hurting her" he looked at her mum who held the same grey eyes as hers and Landon, Jia and Alexander shared their dads eyes that were a dusty blue grey.
"You were hurting too" her mum placed her hand on his, the warmth she radiated like Amara did. He saw so many parts of her in her family, as she laughed in the kitchen with her dad.
"She is close with him" Jia eyed them as the rest nodded.
"She would have wanted that for you and Deiji" her mum smiled at him.
"She thinks about her a lot" he smiled at them.
"I think its why she kept going back even when she had come back, I think she went every month to visit Deiji" Jia recalled, as he stared at her.
"Wait she went back?" as her mum nodded "I think she caught up with Ji-Hoon and a few others, she told us she was there to visit friends but something was different about her, after watching memories it all made sense" as he watched her with her dad. He had found something of hers after she left wondering when it had been from."Oh I redid her room, so you can both stay here" her mum smiled at them.
"I will go freshen up before dinner" he smiled at them as they all nodded. Her room was very similar but the single bed had changed to a queen sized bed. Her merch was untouched, he knew what hell there would be to pay if it wasnt just as he had found her stashed and she chased after him as he looked through her stuff and laughed about it. She was surprisingly fast too.
