Meredith's eyes adjusted to the sunlight, shining through the shades onto the bed, once she'd realised where she was she turned over, only to see a man in her bed. She wasn't unfamiliar with awaking next to a stranger she didn't remember anything about, but this was different, she was lying next to Derek. "Shit" she whispered under her breath

He stirred and started to sit up, "good morning" he rubbed his eyes, "Der did we...?" Meredith asked worriedly, "no we didn't, we just slept in the same bed, no sex, nothing at all, don't worry" he assured her, she nodded relieved. "But you and Cristina almost did" he joked, "huh?" she was confused, "you guys had a full on make out session" he told her, "i'm sorry you had to see that" she laughed, "why do you not normally have an audience?" he wondered, "no, and it's not what you think, we really are just best friends, we're just really... close" she explained.

They both got out of bed and went to the kitchen, where Cristina was making coffee, she placed two mugs in-front of them so they could help themselves, "did you two screw?" Cristina questioned, "nope" Meredith told her, "Derek and i are nothing but friends" she explained, he found himself slightly disappointed at her confidence in the title 'just friends'.

He would wait some time before he ever told her that he had feelings for her, he just didn't want to make her uncomfortable, but he would tell her when the time was right.

"I'm going home, Mer i'll see you soon, Derek... it's nice to meet you, and uhhh i'm sorry about that uhhh Allison?" Cristina said her goodbyes, "Addison, but thank you" he nodded as she closed the front door behind her. It was currently sunday  and neither of them had work, Meredith works monday-friday but gets weekends off, Derek doesn't have a set schedule but he has time off for what was supposed to be his honeymoon.

"Is there anything you want to do today?" Meredith asked him, putting utensils from the night before in the dishwasher, "not that i can think of" he smiled, "okay well i'm going to get some work done i'll be in my room, come see me if you need anything" she offered and walked up the stairs.

Derek wasn't even sure what he wanted to do, about Mark, Addison and everything that had been ruined. He decided it might be a good idea to start looking at houses. He also remembered that Meredith is a designer, so would know what is good to buy, and design or redo, maybe he could hire her to design his knew house, it would be fun to work with her, plus it's a good excuse to get to spend more time with her.

He knocked on her bedroom door and opened it, she was sitting on her bed looking at furniture, she was too distracted to even notice he came in, "hey i have something to ask you, but it's not important if your busy, i can come back" he told her, "no come in, what is it" she asked him, "i'm going to buy a new house, and i want you to design it" he said hopefully, "that's good, and of course i'll help, i have a project i need to finish so i have to make a trip to Italy, but after that i can focus on yours" she explained. For some reason his heart sunk when he found out she'd be going away, "oh how long are you going to Italy for?" he wondered, "only 5 days, the project is almost done it just needs finishing touches" she told him, "anyway i'm leaving tomorrow so you have the house to yourself for a while, so don't go throw a huge house party while i'm gone" she joked. He was sad she was going away, but at least it was only 5 days. "I'll drive you to the airport, what times your flight" he questioned, "Der you don't need to do that i'll get a cab it's okay" she said. "Meredith these past few days you've done everything for me, you've been more of a friend then anyone else has to me, in only 3 days, so please just let me do this one thing, you are amazing and i can't thank you enough" he thanked her, "it's no problem really, i like your company, and thank you too" she smiled.

They both chatted on Meredith's bed for a while, before they went downstairs to eat leftovers for dinner. "This is so good, i swear lasagne is so much better after a few days" she moaned, he tried his hardest not to feel aroused by all the sounds she was making, but he couldn't help but think of her underneath him, or the other way round. "So i like your friend Cristian, she seems nice, a little intimidating but nice" he made small talk, "oh she can be a huge bitchy whore but i love her, she's my person" Meredith told him, "bitchy whore?" he chuckled at the nickname, "she's called me worse don't worry" she laughed. "You want a drink?" she asked, "i don't think i ever want to drink again after last night, i had a headache all day" he said, "not even a glass of red?" she offered,
"just one glass, thank you" he smiled politely, "also i just wanted to let you know, if i drive you crazy, tell me, because this is your home..." he rambled, "wow, normally i'm the rambler, but i appreciate that, just know you can always stay here, it's a big house for one person anyways" she smiled. She truly was the nicest person he'd ever met. He wanted to know her, know everything about her, she intrigued him.
