You entered your home that night and took off your shoes by the doorway. You could smell your mother's cooking from the door, her famous curry must be on the menu tonight. You called out to your mom to inform her you made it back from school. She poked out from the kitchen and despite all these years she still looks good and happy. How did she do it? She wasn't a hero that wore a cape or had an insane quirk— but she always appeared when you needed her most.
"Welcome home dear. Dinner is almost ready so-"
"Get ready, yes I know mom. I'm sure it'll be delicious" you said and made your way upstairs to your room. No, the decor wasn't over the top. It was just fine actually. Average, like everything about you. For a while, you never cared about the idea of being average. You never cared about your quirk either. You rather not even think about it as of right now.
"Why am I like this?" you asked yourself, laying on your bed. Why were you so... boring? Was it because of the accident? You stood up to stare at yourself in the mirror. You glanced at your foot a few times and looked back at yourself. That boy- Sero, wasn't boring. He didn't look boring. He was in the most elite school in your area, he was anything but boring! Then there's you. Average. Ordinary. Not even worth the gossip. Do you even hear yourself right now?
"AGH! I don't know!" You yelled in frustration and sat back down on your bed. What was happening to you? What made you feel the need to be out of the ordinary for some random U.A student, one whom you may never even speak to again?! What was there to him, that intrigued you? What was there to him that made you think, 'Yeah, him, I want to impress him!' What was there to him that made you want to-
"[Y/N]! Are you all right up there?" You heard your mother call you from the stairway, her tone seemed worrisome. You didn't want to worry your mother, so you brushed it off. "Yeah, I'm fine! I think I forgot something at school is all."
"well, Dinner's ready so worry about it later!"
You smiled to yourself and hummed. "sure thing mom." You got up and walked to the dining table, placing the dishes to your and your mother's side, as well as the silverware and food. You both were ready to chow down but before you could, your mother smacked your hand. "ow, mom!"
"Say your thanks! You always forget." She huffed. You clapped your hands together and closed your eyes, thanking her and the.. 'lord' for the meal. You grabbed your silverware and begin eating, the taste of curry drowning down your past worries. The small tang of spice was just enough to make you yell. Your mom was a genius. And smart. As you were eating, she examined you closely watching your every move.
"How was the garden this morning?" She asked.
"Fine. It was the same as usual," you told her. "The rain was a little light today. I think the season is almost over."
"You always liked rain dear, even after all that has happened."
You cringed at her words. You didn't want to think about it. "Yeah. Mom. The food's great by the way, great as always." You smiled at her, your plate now empty and your stomach full. You were always the fast eater in the family, as a kid your mom scolded you for it constantly. Your excuse was always the same. 'If you don't want me to eat it so fast, why make it good, to begin with!' but within time your mother had learned to excuse you from it, what a win for you. You took your and your mother's dishes and put them in the sink. "I'll clean them, mom, you go rest."
"Promise you'll study tonight?"
"Yeah, I promise."
Without another second to waste, your mother went upstairs to her room. As you heard her door close, you turned on the sink water and grabbed the soap. You looked out the window and noticed the pouring rain increasing, the soft thunder here and there. It made you think of Sero, and his black hair and eyes. You dozed off so much you hadn't realized that you were done with the dishes. You felt your cheeks heat up at the thought of him and immediately snapped back into reality. What were you doing? You just met the dude and now you're smiling at the thought of him!?
You let out a groan, frustrated at your actions. What were you doing, thinking, saying? What are you thinking? You glanced back at the window, facing the soft sound of pouring rain. You weren't certain of anything but one thing.
"I think I like you, Sero Hanta."
