Air Force Base, California
May 8th
A large air force carrier plane opens it hatch, standing at the top of the ramp Alex has her good arm threaded through Rhodey's. She changed from her imprisoned attire and though she'd rather be in something more comfortable all she had was dress pants, heals and a dark shirt. It was better than shorts and a tank top. The two slowly walk down the ramp and Alex was trying to put on a brave face but it's clear she is holding on to Rhodey for dear life.
On the ground standing by a rolls Royce limo was Happy Hogan and Pepper Potts.
Pepper had red eyes and a contained smile. As the two reach the ground a group of soldiers come up with a gurney, while Alex had received some treatment in Germany it wasn't a full check-over as Alex only allowed x-rays of her chest and the placement of her shoulder to be fixed.
"are you kidding me with this. Get rid of these guys" Alex said as she let go of Rhodey and began to support herself. Rhodey complied and sent the paramedics away with a wave of his hand.
As Alex approached Pepper and Happy a small smile appeared on the older woman's face. Alex leaned her head in a little and narrowed her eyes looking directly at Pepper
"your eyes are red, tears for your long-lost boss" Pepper's smile grew as she answered
"tears of joy" Pepper paused, and Alexandra's heart leapt a little thinking maybe her small crush was not one-sided "I hate job hunting"
"yeah, vacations over" the two head to the limo where Hogan is waiting with the door open
"good to see you again ma'am"
"you do something new with your hair?" she asks jokingly as Pepper climbed into the limo.
"wouldn't dream of it, ma'am" Happy closes the door as Alex gets settled next to Pepper
From the front seat Happy looks into the mirror at the two in the back
"Where too ma'am" he asks with the same amount of cool suave behavior that he normally has, it was almost as if no time had passed and Alex was grateful that he could jump right back in as if nothing changed.
"Take us to the hospital please Happy?" Pepper says gently only to be interrupted by Alex
"No" Alex answers without looking at her PA
"No? Alex you have to go to-" Pepper turns to look fully at the woman sitting next to her
"No. is a complete answer-"
"the doctor has to look at you"
"I don't have to do anything; I've been in captivity for three months there are two things I want to do" Alex pauses looking Pepper in the eye
"one I want an American cheeseburger and the second..."
"okay that's enough of that" Pepper answers with an exasperated sigh
"is not what you think... I want to hold a press conference"
"a press conference. What for?" Pepper asks the confusion in her voice is evident
"Hogan drive. Cheeseburger first" Alex responds eyes forward. Hogan drives forward following the woman's orders stopping at a burger king along the way and grabs a couple cheeseburgers for the woman.
Stark International Headquarters
The limo pulls up to the front doors, standing outside are a few soldiers standing as guard, a few reporters and some of Stark employees all anxiously awaiting the arrival of Alexandra Stark. The most prominent member being Obadiah Stane, standing in a sharply dressed suit.
