They found themselves in Alex's living room, where not to long ago there were a hundred people. It was much emptier now that only her, eyepatch and his goons were around, but she didn't feel any better.

"that thing in your chest" Fury said "is based on unfinished technology"

"No, it was finished all right. It powered my factory" Alex replied "all it did was square my electricity bill. Face it, it wasn't a good invention to begin with."

Looking at the sky Fury said "Howard knew the arc reactor was just a steppingstone to something greater. He was kicking off an energy race that would dwarf the arms race. He was onto something big, something so big that it would have made the nuclear reactor look like a AAA battery" Fury paused to make sure Alex was paying attention "He was about to change the balance of global power"

"just him or was Anton Vanko in on this as well?"

"Anton Vanko is the other side of that coin. Anton saw it as a way to get rich. Your father found out and had him deported. When the Russians found out he couldn't deliver they shipped his ass of to Siberia and he spent the next twenty years in a vodka induced raged. Not quite the environment you wanna raise a kid in." Fury took a drink and Alex wondered if he knew anything about the drunk her father turned into. "His son, you had the misfortune of crossing paths with, in Monaco."

"you told me I hadn't tried everything, what haven't I tried?"

"he said that you were the only person with the means and knowledge to finish what he started"

"he said that?"

"are you that guy? Huh? Are you? Because if you are then you can solve the riddle of your heart"

Alex thought for a moment then shook her head, remembering all the arguments and fights she had with her father "I don't know where you're getting your information, but he wasn't my biggest fan"

"what do you remember about your dad, huh?"

"he was cold, he was calculating... never told me he loved me never even told me he liked me. So it's a little tough for me to digest what're telling me. He said the whole futures riding on me and he's passing it down. I don't get that. We're talking about a guy who's happiest day was when he shipped me off to boarding school"

"that's not true"

"well then you know Howard better than I did"

"as a matter of a fact I did" Fury said checking his watch as two people brought in a case of something "he was one of the founding members of shield"

Alex furrowed her brows but decided it didn't matter, he was dead. "what?"

Fury stood up "I've got a two o'clock. You're good right"

"what's this... no I'm not good"

"you got this right?"

"got what?"

"Natasha will remain a floated at Stark with her cover intact. And you remember Agent Coulson right?"

"Yeah"

"Oh and Alex remember, I've got my eye on you"

Good one, Alex thought.

"We've disabled all communications. No contact with the outside world. I'll be administering your medication. Tacos and Sodas at six"

The she too left. Alex then turned to Coulson, "Let me guess, you're the babysitter"

"I've been authorized by Director Fury to use any means necessary to keep you on the premises. If you attempt to leave or play any games I will taze you and watch supernanny while you drool into the carpet, okay"
