Afghan Cave

May 2nd

Weeks  passed,  the electromagnet in Stark's chest, so far,  was working perfectly and while the skin around it healed, her body was still covered in bruises and cuts. The men who had captured her, the ten rings, had not been concerned with the operation rather they were growing antsy by the delay of the missile. On an hourly basis they would look through the slit in the door and a couple times a week they would use their brute strength to remind Alex what she was supposed to be doing. Even a few thinly veiled threats of worse existed.

The only thing they reminded Alex of was her main goal, escape, and as for that it was moving along nicely, though slowly. Alex maintained a semi-normal sleeping routine, she wanted to buy as much time as possible.

Throughout the room welded pieces of metal were strewn across tables and even the floor, like the schematics nothing was put together in case someone got a good look. Sitting on a table Alex hooks up a leg brace and tests the mechanism while Yinsen watches.

Unbeknownst to the two they have caught the eye of the man behind the ten rings, the true extent of her work has yet to be discovered but it's clear she hasn't been devoting her time to the Jericho.

As Alex set to continue welding some of the equipment the slide of the door was yanked open, the large man who had been the face behind most of Alex's torturer yelled through the hole before flinging it open.

Alex and Yinsen stopped what they were doing before placing their hands behind their heads as the usual motion. When the men entered Alex was a little surprised to see nearly triple the usual amount file in through the door. They were in two lines with one man in between them, this was the man that Alex recognized standing in the distance so many weeks ago.

He walked through with an air of power behind him, Alex couldn't tell if the men respected him or feared him, she figured it was a little of both. The man had his eyes on Yinsen until he got in front of his men, at that he turned his attention to Alex and took a few steps towards her. His emotionless face was unnerving as he eyed the device in her chest.

"Relax" he said almost gently but the threat was still there warning the two that while they could lower their arms doing anything else would not be wise. Alex glanced at Yinsen, her face remained stoic but the confusion in her eyes was noticeable.

The man walked closer to Alex, setting her nerves on high alert, though nothing would prepare her for the jump in nerves as soon as he got arm's length away. He reached out and lightly touched the reactor before pulling at the buttons of her shirt slightly to get a better look at the device. Alex just barely stopped herself from flinching or stepping back, she wasn't overly fond of being touched unless she initiated it first. But she knew if she made a move it would be worst for her.

Alex looked at the man straight on while he did this, she wasn't going to let him feel as if he had affected her, through her eyebrows did get slightly closer together and a hint of anger was present.

"the bow and arrow once was the pinnacle of weapons technology-" he finished the statement finally looking Alex in the eye, he held contact with her for only a few seconds before he lowered his hand and walked towards a table in the room.

"-it allowed the great Genghis Khan to rule from the pacific to Ukraine-" he stopped at the table and began picking up pieces of equipment.

Alex had remained in her position but followed him with her eyes. Her eyes flicked between the man and Yinsen concern etching her features, Yinsen remained calm he made a gesture with his hand that told Alex to relax. Trusting the man who saved her life twice she did as he instructed and looked back at the gang of men waiting for orders.
