In these post-dusk hours there are very few people wandering through the streets of Liberio. Most were watching Willy Tybur's grandeur declaration and some were scurrying into their homes.

You are with Levi Ackerman for the first time in what felt like forever. He's aged much more, perhaps because of the exhaustion he's faced over the past few years, but it doesn't stop you from kissing him.

There's an overwhelming sense of exhilaration. There was no describing it, no particular word could ever justify the emotions that rushed through your body as Levi's lips pressed against yours.

For a moment, he shifts slightly and slips away from your embrace. As you gaze at his tired eyes, you face the conundrum of how to go about with the rest of the night.

Maybe you'd take him home with your children and finally get that family dinner you have always wanted, and then in the morning you'd take your entire family to get a family portrait. Yes, that sounded good to you. Much to your selfishness, you also thought about a photo with just you and Levi.

For now, the night seemed endless with hours but you still feared that somehow Levi would be gone again, forever. There was no way to ensure this moment and the rest of your life with him. You had let him go once before, now the universe had given you another chance to fix your regrets and to stay with him.

No way you would let yourself take away a loving family for Levi.

"You know, I tell everybody that you're my husband." You chuckle airily. "Even though we haven't officially gotten married."

His mouth slightly parts, "When you left, I've always thought of you as my wife."

"Levi..." You say, your voice is soft-spoken and almost in the midst of cracking. "You should come home."

"I can't."

"What do you-"

A sudden voice was like a slap to your face and it somewhat brought you to some sort of sense. It was Isabel and Farlan, both screaming your name as they ran towards you. Hange followed along behind them, her hat down and the street lights illuminating her face.

Your children managed to get between you and Levi, "Mommy!"

"Isabel," you let out a weary breath. "Have you met your father?"

She nods vigorously and looks towards Levi, "Dad."

He slowly kneels down to find Isabel's eyes staring right at him, stars in her pupils from awe. She's blushing, mouth agape. Her father is a very much comforting presence as he takes his coat off and neatly gives it to her small hands, he even pats her head once.

"Me too, me too, me too!" Farlan's hands take a hold of Levi's, forcefully placing it on his own head.

For a second you were admiring the interaction, struck by how different Levi seemed from the way you had always known him. But his attire was speaking otherwise and everything began raising many questions.

The signature green of the Scout Regiment brought your shaking hands to your mouth. "Levi, why are you dressed like that?"

There could only be one answer but you had to hear it for yourself.

"You have to get out of here and soon." Levi heaves a sigh. He can't bring himself to look at you so he keeps himself to his children.

A silence ensued, then you frowned. Levi also began to frown but it was barely noticeable on his face. "C-Can you explain?"

"(Y/N)," Hange walks forward. "There isn't much time to explain right now."

Levi finally looks to you, a blank stare. "Protect these kids."

"No, wait. Levi, I can take them." Hange mentions, and she sounds almost unsure but her face was serious.

Levi furrows his brows, "on the airship?"

"Yes," Hange nods. "Although last minute... I want to guarantee the safety of everyone."

Staring at the two, you knew you had to do something, or at least say something. But nobody was giving you anything to work off on. Your mind seemed to draw blank, only able to listen and infer from their conversations.

"(Y/N), let's go. We don't have much time." Hange gestures towards you but you're too busy looking at Levi.

"If I go, will I see you again?" You ask him.

There's no guarantee. But Levi says otherwise.

"I'll make sure to come back to you." He says.
