The death of Sasha Braus was as remarkable as it was unremarkable. Remarkable, because it brought some sense into you. That your long break from fighting titans was just that, a break. Unremarkable, because everyone's best friend had just died. Right in front of them.

When the airship landed in Paradis, it was hard to apprehend everything. Everything looked so different, yet the same. So unfamiliar, yet so familiar. It was like you had never left, but it seemed like everything had changed. Your children were excited, not just at the giant vehicle they were in, but at the new world bestowed upon them.

But reminiscing about your past life was cut short because Sasha's death and funeral seemed to be the only thing on your mind.

The day of her funeral was black and blue. Blue for the clear skies and tears, black for everyone's clothes – for the blood shed on that airship.

What's worse was that it was Gabi who had killed Sasha. The betrayal and disbelief that had set upon you was indescribable. A child that was seen as an older sister for your children, someone you trusted. When you told your kids that they wouldn't be able to see Gabi and Falco for a while, they were confused.

"How are you holding up?" A comforting presence meets yours. It's Hange, clad in formal attire. There's a sort of sad smile tugging at her lips, as though she was forcing herself.

You give her the same smile. "Everything's overwhelming."

She exhales sharply, or rather a breathy chuckle. "A friend comes back but another one dies."

There is a moment where her words feel like daggers, the tips of each pierce your heart and you bleed. You bleed and bleed and you cry. You don't even realize until the tears reach your jawline. There is guilt but then there is this. You had known Gabi for quite some time now, so there was a despicable weight of some responsibility for Sasha's death just by association.

Hange is quick to bring you in for a hug. Her arms gently wrap around your upper back, keeping you warm. Into her neck, you fear that your sobs will stain her coat. What you don't know is that she doesn't mind.

Levi Ackerman waits in his room, albeit for you. He is restless - his fingers tap impatiently at the rim of his cup, unknowing of when you'll walk through that door once again. It would be the first time in years.

Moments later, a door creaks. He doesn't turn to look because he can already feel the air lift some of its weight and he is reminded that he can breathe properly once again. You're chewing your bottom lip, perhaps out of the overwhelming feelings that shadowed over you. There was just so much to say yet you could not find any words to say.

Where do you start? Sasha's death, Marley, the kids, and all the answers you have left unsaid. You wonder how much Levi knows now as you carefully tread towards him. He is standing behind his desk, staring out the window. When you snake your arms around him, he leans into you.

"They are great," Levi finally breaks the silence. He turns to you and this is when you notice his tired eyes.

"Who?"

"Our children," He exhales. "You've done great."

"They already love you," you say. Levi's tired expression manages into something softer.

You're a girl now years older and worn on the inside but when he looks at you - he only sees the woman he's loved and never stopped loving. When you take a look around his room, something clutches your lungs as your eyes widen in awe. This place that was once so familiar to you seemed so different, even though nothing really had changed. Your heart beat increases and you go pleasant with memory.

Out of all the malice and war, this very room with you in it was a safe haven. He wouldn't dare taint such a space with politics and bloodshed. So he takes your hand, his touch making your heart spark in your chest.

On his bed now, or rather your bed as well, you both lay on your backs and stare at the ceiling, hands still intertwined. The slight breeze from the window grazes your skin, and the last remnants of peach sunlight slowly disappears into the incoming evening sky. The room is only lit by a single candle.

Levi has so much to say. He had thought about this very moment before - and all of it revolves around the fact that he's still so endlessly in love with you and that despite the many years between you - nothing has ever changed.

He struggles with his words and before he could say anything, he is interrupted with your sniffles and small sobs. It seemed like everything was coming to you all at once - everything that had happened up until now.

"I don't know what to say," you admit. "I'm sorry for leaving you all those years ago."

Levi wants to tell you that he doesn't need your apology, he doesn't need anything else. You're here now and that's all that matters. However, all he can do is turn to stare at you. He brings a hand to your cheek, exhaling and reminiscing the intricacies of your skin.

"You are still as beautiful as ever," his voice breaks only slightly.

You smile in between sniffles, "you are so old now."

Levi scoffs, pulling you closer to him. His warmth is palpable against your body.

"Aren't you frustrated...with me?" You whisper, gaining composure of your breaths.

He pauses, which scares you, but when he speaks his voice seems so reassuring that for a moment all your fears go away. "Of course not."

"I won't leave you again," you look up to him from his chest with pleading eyes. "I promise."

There is silence and then there is an urge to kiss him - you needed the comfort, you needed him. To be in his arms again, like this, felt so unreal. Surely, a kiss could make all your worries go away, even just momentarily. You wanted a break from the outside world.

And that's what he gives you.

When he kisses you, thoughts of only Levi surges through your being. He is here with you. Nothing else seems to exist but you and him in this room, hands finally exploring each other's bodies in desperation. Years and years of pent up agony from immeasurable distance between you both is finally being released.

His hands still remember your body. Levi shifts all his weight so that he's hovering above you, his face is so close to yours, so much so that your noses almost touch. Before you can reach for his face he leans his head into your neck.

"I have missed you, dearly." He murmurs.

Your breath hitches in your throat, his hands slowly feel the dips and curves of your body. His touch is so gentle, so slow, you had almost forgotten how to control your body as it begs to be touched by him more.

The gasp that leaves your lips is quiet and just as soft as his breathing against your neck, he's kissing you there and leaving marks on your skin. You're still his and will always be. His hands still roam your body, adrenaline rushing through you as his hands reach your inner thigh.

Your mind draws blank when your lips meet his again. This time its electric, desperate, passionate, and so so so fucking intimate. The way his hands rub up and down in your thigh, the way his tongue makes its way behind your teeth, and the way he began to mumble your name until it turned into proclamations of worship. It was all exhilarating.

God, he really had missed you.

"I've missed this - you. I've missed you."  You finally part your mouth from his, eyes warily staring into his.

Levi feels himself grow weak at your words and he wavers for a moment, lips parting at your expression.

"Then let me give you all of me."
