I walked into my first class of the day, shyly looking down at my vans. I usually wasn't too shy, but when it comes to standing in front of a whole class of judgy teenagers, it's a different story. You'd think I would be alright with it, considering how many times I've been on stage, but it was just different than being on stage. I could tell they were pointing out every single one of my flaws as they stared at me intently, most with narrowed eyes.

"Everyone, this is Luke Hemmings. He will be your new classmate, so treat him with some respect," my teacher introduced me.

I waved to the class, not really knowing what to do once I glanced up at them.

"Why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself, Luke?" She suggested. I noticed everyone relax once I reluctantly nodded, so I relaxed a little bit too.

"Uh, I enjoy music, dancing, and hanging with my friend, Ash," I inform them, still being slightly sheepish.

"Is he from Pokémon?" One guy with semi-swoopy hair shouted out, earning a round of chuckles from around the room.

"No," I giggled, earning a few smiles from some girls. I smiled back, feeling a small wave of acceptance come over me.

"Alright, since you're so eager to be witty this morning, Mr. Haynes, you get to befriend our new student here." The teacher smirked.

"I don't mind. The more, the merrier, in my opinion." He shrugged, eyeing me up and down.

She directs me to sit next to him and behind a girl with black scene hair. I took my seat and looked back and forth between the two as she turned in her seat to face me.

"I'm Dakota, and the class clown next to you is Elijah," the girl, who I now knew as Dakota, told me, giving me a side smile. I would totally be crushing on her if I was into her kind. Yeah, that does sound a bit weird, offensive even, but it's true; I don't like chicks.

"Hey, what's wrong with being the class clown?" Elijah pouted.

"I never said it was a bad thing," Dakota defended, sending him a look you would give to someone who was a complete idiot.

"Yeah, but you said it with that look."

"So, what? This is my normal face, you should know this by now." She waved a hand through the air and rolled her eyes.

"No, I've known you long enough to know that look, and that was definitely it." He pointed at her.

"Yeah, yeah, just greet the kid, dipshit." She gestured to me, making me giggle from the name she had called him.

He gave her a pout, but turned his attention to me, "Yo."

"Smooth, Elijah. Smooth." Dakota rolled her eyes again.

"Hi," I laugh.

They both opened their mouths to say something, but were stopped by our teacher saying that we needed to begin the lesson. Dakota turned back around in her chair and Elijah just sighed, probably not wanting to be in school. I can't blame him. Learning? Yuck.

Before we could get too deep into the lesson, Elijah and Dakota both slipped me a note. Written on those notes were their numbers and something along the lines of calling or texting them later.

Another wave of acceptance came over me. Except this time, it was bigger. Much bigger. I might actually have friends now. Sweet!

So far, this town wasn't too bad, besides the fact that they still made us go to school. What could possibly go wrong? Pretty much the only thing I had left to experience was my dance class, and that was always amazing. So, there's no way that could be bad.
