I woke up in a room, supposedly in a ship. I was alone and confused.
"Finnick!" I shouted several times, fearing he wasn't there. Then suddenly, the door opened, and it was him. He ran to hug me.
"Katniss!" He said in relief, "you're alright!"
He caressed my hair and I gave him a long, passionate kiss. Then he fell on top of me. I kissed him again and he slid his hands all over my body. It felt so good. I whimpered under his touch. His warm hands were roaming me and I whimpered again under his magic touch when someone knocked on the door. It was probably Haymitch.
"Couldn't it be in another moment?" Finnick complained.
I laughed and said: "It's alright, honey. Don't worry."
Finnish got off of me and I opened the door and saw Haymitch.
"Finnick, I need you to come right now!" He said.
I frowned. "What's up?"
"Nothing important, love. I'll be right back," Finnick said and kissed my forehead.
I spent some time wondering what could be happenning out there, when suddenly I realized that Peeta and Johanna weren't there. Where could they possibly be? Were they with us or had something bad happenned to them?
I needed to solve my doubts, so I went out of the room and found Finnick discussing something about District 13 with Haymitch, Beete, Gale and Plutarch.
"District 13, huh?" I asked, angry.
This whole thing seemed like a plan. A long time ago agreed plan.
"Katniss, I can explain it!" Said Finnick.
"Explain What Finnick?" I asked, furious, "You've not only lied to me, oh no, you had a plan with these guys and no one talked to me about this. You think I'm that innocent I won't notice?"
"Katniss, It's good," Haymitch replied, trying to calm me down.
"No it's not!" I yelled. "Where's Johanna... where's Peeta? Didn't you care so much about him? Where are they?" I exclaimed, hitting Haymitch in his chest.
"They are fine," Gale claimed.
"No. Don't lie to her," Finnick said. He sighed before finally telling me the truth: "The capitol has taken them with them."
My stomach dropped. "What?" I cried in shock.
"We couldn't do anything, Katniss! I promise I'm telling the truth."
I shook my head angrily. "You don't even care, do you? None of you do!" I cried.
"Katniss!" Finnick said, attempting to take my hand. I slapped his hand away.
"Don't you dare lay your hands on me. It's all your fault! How could you let this happen?! God knows the terrible things they'll have to go through. We have to go back!" I ran to the navigation room and tried to direct the ship towards the capitol.
"Katniss stop!" Shouted Finnick. Gale ran to where I was and paralyzed my arms, corralling them with his. I screamed in impotence. Just when I thought they were going to give up, Haymitch put a sedative on my neck. How could he do that to me? I was boiling with anger.
I woke up in a cold hospital room. I was shivering. I was alone and I felt lonely. I decided to go and look for Finnick, even though I was still hurt about what had happened.
I stepped out of the room and saw him there, lying in an hospital bed as well. He seemed hurt and angry, perhaps with me, perhaps with the situation. I couldn't really tell.
He looked at me with soft eyes and I noticed they were filled with tears threatening to fall.
"I tried to go back and save them but they didn't let me!" He told me, frustrated. "I fainted after you did, I just felt so bad!" He brought his hands to his head. I just stood there, staring at him. I couldn't do anything more as I was tired and clueless about what was hapenning.
"It doesn't matters how sorry you are. They still are in the capitol," I said coldly and headed to the dinner room.
When I got there I saw Gale munching on a sandwich at one of the tables.
"Hi!" I said, sitting down next to him.
"Hey!"
We remained silent for a few seconds. After a while he started to talk.
"Twelve was attacked by the capitol. There were very few survivors and the ones that survived are now here."
"What?" I asked, my eyes going round. I felt myself starting to freak out and cry.
"At least Prim is fine," Gale said in a comforting manner.
"But Peeta and Johanna aren't," I said through gritted teeth.
"Katniss, we couldn't do anything more," Gale sighed.
"I don't really know what you did, but you definitely could have done more."
"Katniss..."
Alright. That was it. I was going to explode of rage. Nobody seemed to care about Peeta and Johanna, and that was really starting to get on my nerves.
Suddenly Plutchart entered the room and distracted me from my thoughts.
"Alma, may I present you, our mockingjay!" He said. "Katniss, this is president Alma Coin." My eyes went to the woman standing next to him, about fifty years of age, and with straightened, grey hair.
I frowned in perplexity. What in God's sake did it mean to be a mockingjay and why was I one?
"It's a real honor to meet you," Alma said, using a warm tone. I tried to smile at her, but failed.
"Please follow us to the reunion room, we want to talk to you!" Plutchart said. I did as told, and soon we entered the room.
We all took a seat and Alma began to talk.
"When you threw that arrow in the arena, you unleashed a revolution. There has been disturbances against the capitol in nearly all the districts, but each district alone can't do anything against it. Our aim is to unify all district against the capitol in order to end up with this regime in which we are in. However, we won't be able to do it without a voice, someone who's able to unify the rebels in one team and to represent the rebels in the eyes of the capitol," she said.
"We would like you to be that voice, Katniss. Our Mockingjay," Plutchart explained.
"No!" I shook my head rapidly. Alma and Plutchart looked at me, bewildered. "I am not going to represent a team that lets their members rot in the capitol," I explained.
"Well thank you for your time, Miss Everdeen," said Alma.
I silently left the room and headed to the dinner room.
My eyes met with Finnick's as I entered the room. He was sitting at one of the tables, looking at me with sweet eyes. He stood up as I started to run in his direction. I felt tears gather in the corner of my eyes as I let myself fall into his welcoming arms. He hugged me tightly, one hand on my lower back and the other around my neck. Tears started to fall down my cheek and I was now crying. I knew I was being dramatic, but I just couldn't stop myself from it. Everything was going terribly right know and I didn't know how to save my friends.
"Shhh," he said soothingly, caressing my hair, "It's alright. Everything is gonna be alright..."
