Ch. 3 - Ego

Although the First Magic High School was the best in the country- it was also abundant in ego and discrimination against second course students. His sister, Mayumi, was not exempt from this, and often times ignored the obvious dangers of other magicians within the school. They were teenagers however not exempt from killing people when it came to benefit them.

The bell rang as they got up from their seats in the class and began walking to the cafeteria, where they would get their food and sit down. Their little group consisted of Hiro, Tatsuya, Erika, Leo, and of course, Mizuki. Soon enough, Miyuki came to follow as she walked over and sat down next to Tatsuya- which was then also followed by course 1 students, who began crowding them uncomfortably.

Morisaki Shun, a course 1 student walked over and placed his hand on Tatsuya's shoulder. "Our blooms shouldn't be with the weeds, Miyuki." he said cockily as he then said, "Why don't you go somewhere else so we can spend time together with our own." Miyuki attempted to protest as he then said; "Awh, c'mon, you don't really feel for these no-skill losers, yeah?" which was then mounting on Hiro as he looked. Erika began to try to open her mouth as he put his hand out, shaking his head.

Hiro eventually piped up slowly but surely, stating: "No one will be moving from this table for you, sorry." which then made the young Morisaki get slightly angry. A hand was placed on his shoulder from him as his pushions began to rise in intensity, the connection between him and Morisaki, as to which Tatsuya defused it before they became out of hand.

"We'll be moving now... thank you for trying Hiro." A sigh came from him as he nodded to Tatsuya, agreeing with him. Miyuki wanted to protest but was mouthed to by Tatsuya: "It's better for the both of us to avoid conflict." as to which she almost tearfully nodded. Their places were soon taken by the course 1 students who were at this point doing everything in their power to keep Miyuki from the weeds.

The day continued on with the events playing out in Hiro's head, constantly replaying what could've happened. It was strange to him... he didn't know his own powers yet, he was willing to throw himself in front of others. His pushions had rapidly decreased back to normal levels after that incident, as the end of the day was reached and the bell rang- he went to find Mayumi so that he could walk home with her which would be a trend for the next year.

"So, how was your first day?" She asked as Hiro walked in, Mayumi was still doing student council work at her desk as she continued to look into student records- mainly at Tatsuya and Miyuki. "It was fine.. however, you never told me the prejudice was that bad in the school." Hiro remarked as she looked up, "Already..? You've seen it already?" which was just replied with a simple nod. Their conversation was interrupted by shouting outside, as she stood up and looked out the window.

 There were a few course 1 students holding up a few course 2 students, with who seemed to be Miyuki behind them- "Lets go?", Mayumi's thoughts were interrupted by Hiro as he began to move. The pair began to move down stairs and met with Mari Watanabe, the disciplinary committee head. She had heard it too and nodded to both Mayumi and Hiro as they continued outside. Morisaki began to reach for his CAD as Hiro realized the course 2 students they were confronting were his friends at that point.

This triggered Hiro to just let it go, as he sprinted from Mayumi and Mari's side, quickly reaching their position as he moved to disarm Morisaki. His hands moved fast as he placed his hand on the back of his neck then sweeping his leg and using his other hand to pull the CAD from his hand. An action noted by Watanabe, "He'd be good for the disciplinary committee.. don't you think..?" as to which Myumi replied with a snicker, "Maybe so." Following up to his actions as the other course 1 students literally pulled his CAD on him, Mari prevented them from going any further.

 "Hold it!" She shouted as they looked back to both her and the student council president- "Get out of here." Mari shook her head as they began to walk off, with Hiro releasing Morisaki. Needless to say, a stink eye was shot at himself as Morisaki walked away: "We won't forget this.." With that being said and done, Miyuki and Tatsuya walked away with their accompaniments- Hiro staying back with Mayumi and Mari, heading back.

Mari said to Mayumi: "Why don't we head to the disciplinary committee headquarters?" as to which she nodded and motioned Hiro to follow them. As soon as they entered Mari said, "Let me cut to the chase.. since we have a few spots and Hattori isn't here to protest it.." a quick spot of silence occurred before she continued: "Hiro, you should join the disciplinary committee- I noticed your ability to suppress magic users without the usage of magic yourself, and I believe that could be an asset." to put it quite simply Mayumi was smiling the entire time, which put it into his head that she agreed.

 "Eh.. I don't see why not." Hiro looked to Mayumi with a smile then back at Mari- "When do you want me to start?" which was followed by a quick reply: "Tomorrow." he nodded as the sun began to set which caused Mayumi to say, "We need to get going." which he agreed with.

Hiro exited the school grounds with Mayumi as they both began walking home, with not much happening after that other than normal things such as eating dinner, homework, sleeping, etc.
