Ch. 4 - Disciplinary Committee

The sun shined brightly on this day as the walk to school was very average. Since today had more student council work to do, Mayumi left Hiro asleep and she left earlier in the morning. He walked down the street and saw Tatsuya and his group- which included the usual, Mizuki, Erika, Leo, Miyuki, Honoka and, Shizuku. As he got closer Miyuki asked him; "Hey, Hiro. Would you like to walk with us to school?" as to which he shrugged "I don't see why not." which then set them off walking.

As they neared the school, he pulled out a red and black armband; "Did you get invited to the Disciplinary Committee, Hiro?" a curious Erika asked as he responded, "Yeah". The armband was pulled over his right shoulder with his one hand as he began to walk with them until he stopped at his post and bowed to them, as a thank you for letting him walking with them. Miyuki brightly smiled back at him which caught him off guard and flustered him a little bit of course, considering she was basically a perfect female due to genetic engineering- anyone would fall for her. They began to walk off as he began to roam his position, directing transfers to their classes and ensuring that the peace was kept. As the brother of the student council president, they expected him to be in a more controlling position thus whispers raised around him as he walked around while guiding people.

Soon after his patrol was done, he entered the school and began walking to his class while taking off the armband and putting it into his coat. The restricted movement of the coat made him slightly uncomfortable so he usually walked around with it unbuttoned at the front which revealed his formal vest with a black tie underneath it as well as his dark gray button-down. On his way down he noticed that Tatsuya had escorted his younger sister to class which received an earnest and warm smile from Hiro.

Why did this feel so familiar?

Why did this feel right?

Memories flashed through his head as he stopped for a split second, then continuing on as to not make it look too serious but these memories- they weren't his. Needless to say that Tatsuya noticed his smile and paused, giving him a small but sharp look as he passed the siblings. Spike mages were often referred to as "Guardians" within the past or even "Peacekeepers", as they prevented war between nations covertly and were used in defense. Often times while defending countries they would find someone to bond with, which often times led to their sacrifices for their respective nations. 

As soon as he entered the class he heard Leo: "Yo!" which gained his attention and made him walk over, "Are you okay? I saw you pause in the hallway." more people were watching than Hiro had thought. "Yeah, I just didn't get enough sleep last night." he replied as he sat down at his seat. There was of course an instructor who talked into the classroom and placed a small slip of paper on his desk- a pass to go to the student council room. The single thought raced through his mind, "Ah shit, what did I do?", as this passed through his mind he grabbed it and left the room.

His hand traced onto the door of the student council room as he knocked on it, "It's Haruyama." he said nonchalantly as he heard his sister reply; "You may enter, Hiro." as to which he followed her permission. There were the Shiba siblings, already sitting down as had a sigh of relief- this meant he didn't do anything particularly wrong. He was motioned to sit next to Mari, who was his superior in this scenario and was basically right across from Tatsuya. Hiro knew that his eyes were on him.. Tatsuya knew him, just not knowing where he was from. This caused him to avoid the devil's gaze as he looked to Mayumi who began to speak.

"Miyuki." She said confidently, "Join the student council." as to which Miyuki looked back to Tatsuya. "I would but.. I don't want to be separated from my brother." which gained him shaking his head, "Miyuki. You can do this." he said coldly as to which she tilted her head down. Tatsuya placed his hand on her cheek and made her look up to him: "Don't worry, there's nothing that will ever separate me from you." as to which she blushed and looked away quickly. "Some weird complex she has there.." Hiro thought to himself as he looked at Mari, who was basically thinking the same thing as they both shook their heads.

About an hour passed of talking as the bell began to ring again- which meant it was lunch time. Tatsuya and Miyuki got up and began walking out, as to which Mayumi chimed in, "Would you both mind coming here for lunch?" as to which Miyuki replied "Yes, we'll see to it." Hiro got up as Mari then said, "We'd like you here for it too, Hiro, as you'll have a part in it." which received a nod from him as he walked to the dinner machine. A coin was popped in from his coat pocket as a hot and read dinner popped out of a hole in the middle of the machine. Reaching his hands in, he grabbed it and set it down before sitting. This was followed by the other student council one by one.

Tatsuya knocked on the student council door once again, "It's Tatsuya." he said calmly as they opened the door and sat down with lunches at the table. Hiro sat at the table with the rest of the council, nearly dozing off as Mayumi began to talk. "Miyuki, we really need you to become our secretary for this semester." as to which she replied "It would be my pleasure to join you at the foot of your table but," it was interrupted by silence "is there any way you could bring my brother on board as well?" He saw how compassionate she was about her brother, which made his crimson eyes look to Mari as he kicked her boot lightly. The protest Miyuki made had Tatsuya shudder and look away- this didn't go unnoticed.

Mari pushed through before Rin could say anything.. questionable.. "Hold up, could I jump in here?" she asked "The student council still hasn't filled the one remaining spot on the Disciplinary Committee, left by a departing graduate. If I'm not mistaken, selecting a course 2 student as a student council nominee for the Disciplinary Committee wouldn't be in violation of the rules." This was received by all of the student council members differently, which made Mayumi stand up quickly and chime in. "Nice going!" she shouted as she then brought her hand up to her lips and sat down. "Mari, the student council hereby nominates Tatsuya Shiba to the Disciplinary Committee!" a quick protest then came from Tatsuya "Hold on, don't I have any say in this? I still don't even know that the Disciplinary Committee does." which was responded to by Rei to start "We still haven't told your sister what her student council duties would entail."

"Well.. that's true.. but.." he was cut off by Mayumi who said "Tatsuya, the Disciplinary Committee maintains order at this school." as to which his cold blue eyes then moved to a small ginger student council member, A-chan. Starting with a stutter she said, "U-Um, the main duties of the Disciplinary are to charge those in violation of the school regulations regarding the use of magic and to crack down on disorderly conduct involving magic." being winded, she put a hand on her chest and let out a sigh.

"Just in case, I'd like to confirm one thing..." which gained a reply from Mari who now had her arms crossed over her chest, "What is it?" it became more of an A-B conversation at this point. "If I understand correctly, whenever a fight breaks out, the Disciplinary Committee has to stop it by force... is that right?" Mari looked up to him and said "Well, more or less." with a reply coming directly after "And that holds true even if magic is being used..." as to which Mari fought against him with logic: "Ideally, we'd stop it before they use any magic." which gained protest from the young Shiba. "Excuse me, but... I'm a course 2 student because of my miserable scored on the practical exam!" which gained a quick shutdown from Mari, "That's fine. They have me to deal with tests of strength..." The bell rang as they continued the conversation with Mari then ending it with: "Right, I'd like to continue this after school. Is that all right?" she asked as Tatsuya sighed, "Fine by me..."
