Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei - 𝕁𝔸𝔼𝔾𝔼ℝ

Ch. 16 - Steam

Hiro had slept through the night, and taken most of the time before his first Monolith Code match to prepare himself to be put into a sort of live combat scenario once again. He walked to the dressing rooms, where Tatsuya and Leo already were, and got dressed in his uniform and protective gear like them. "Hiro." a deep voice sounded from the tall man, "I made the adjustments for you." he said as he placed two cases down, gaining a nod from the shorter male. He opened it and strapped the rounds to his thighs on both sides, then took out the gun-like CAD, studying the hub on the bottom. It would have a way of assisting him in mobility as a last ditch asspull to ensure some sort of victory.

They made their way out to the field, as to which Hiro hadn't seen Miyuki today due to the fact that it could distract him from the event. Studying the surroundings, he realized that the environment was perfect for his under-barrel hub. "Hmm.. I could use it but, I wouldn't see a need to unless I wanted to screw with them.." He said to himself as he loaded one round into each CAD. "It wouldn't matter if you used it, we're going to be closely watched by.. everyone in any case." Tatsuya said as Leo then piped up, "Honestly if you give us a higher chance of victory, I would say just go for it." as to which Hiro shrugged. They got into position, a wedge-like formation in front of the monolith. The chiming of the start indicator began as it slowly reached a higher-pitched indicator that told them to go.

Tatsuya charged straight up the middle, and Hiro was observed to dive into the forest around them. They were both nearly equally paced in speed however, the shorter male stopped himself in the forest and thought like a spike mage for a second- which caused him to bring out a little bit of the spike mages power. He placed a hand on one of his rounds, taking it off of his thigh as he then shoved it into the ground. Charging it with psions, it began to emit a high pitched sound that would cause anyone but him to have a headache in the area. Just to happens that one of the eighth high contestants were in the area, so he decided to screw with them a little bit. Loading up his CAD once again, he began to use ropes or lines completely made of psions to fly around the area. Each of the first high students had something to spectate them, so the drone following him saw him flying through the trees and around his 'victim'.

This persisted before he launched out of the trees, looking straight down at the student as he aimed the CAD and fired a mild-forced blast at him. The blast slammed him into the wrong and knocked him out of breath and eventually moved into unconsciousness. He moved off of his target and landed in the middle, the psion wires, which had the color of a crystalline blue retracted into the under barrel after sitting on the ground for a considerable amount of time. The next match wasn't too far off as Leo and Tatsuya came up to him and they began to talk. "Next match is soon, we'll need to head to the next ground." Leonhard said as Tatsuya nodded, "Agreed." was their interaction as they began to move. Tatsuya spoke up, "Hiro- the next course should be perfect for you." as to which they neared the next one which was a near the size of a city.

The trio entered the building where the monolith would be held for themselves and the other team would be across the town, as to which Hiro stayed outside. As they took position, the notification to begin started to blare. Needless to say that the drone would focus on him since he was the only one visible outside. As soon as the start indicator rang, he sent a line of psions out that lifted him off the ground, the wire coming out of the under barrel hub. Needless to say that.. it wasn't expected that something like this would be made. He turned himself and shot a wire out of the other hub, swinging around and up a building at a decent speed. As he landed on the building, he made his way to the door and kicked it down before moving through with a swift sprint.

The interior of the building was crowded but, this was where he'd flourish in combat. He came across one of the student participants, and of course they had been armed with a gun-like CAD, and aimed it at him. The CAD trigger was pulled as he used a round to push himself out of the way with sheer force before aiming the other one up and slamming him into a wall. Thunderous booming came from up stairs, which was then followed by the ending siren wailing. First high had secured their Monolith Code positions but.. now was the hard part. Going against third high. They had about an hour before their next match so, Hiro used it to his advantage to replenish his ammunition fills and add his tanto-like CAD to his arsenal of tools. The rest of the hour was used to relax as the next match then quickly began for them. It was planned that he would move around in the forested area to cause them to look away from their monolith- which worked perfectly with Tatsuya using a tree to fire at the monolith with his CAD, it was kind of overkill that Hiro moved above the third high student and shot his round, causing him to slam into the ground.
