"this is the beginning."

PORCO WATCHED AT EVELYN WALKED INTO THE APARTMENT. She seemed like she was having a normal day. Nothing, in particular, seemed to be bothering her.

It had been a week since they had sex. Nothing seemed to change. Everything was the way it always was for the most part.

Excluding the fact that they had become more affectionate with each other. Porco liked holding on to her. Since they had broken the most intimate barrier, randomly holding each other on the couch seemed like nothing.

Everything was basically the same.

"Hey, you got a letter in the mail." Porco said.

"Oh? A letter?" Evelyn asked.

"Mhm." replied Porco. He was nervous. How was Evelyn going to react to seeing the sender?

Evelyn's eyes widened as she read the name. It was from someone she thought would never reach out this soon.

It was from her mother, who said she would let her daughter know when it was her time to go.

She nervously opened the letter and began scanning over it. Porco watched as her facial expression remained unchanged.

After many minutes, silent tears began falling from her eyes. No sobs, no sniffles, just slow tears rolled down her face.

Evelyn put down the letter and just stared at the counter. Porco waited for her to say something. Anything at all.

She turned to him and grinned.

"Do you want to Texas with me?" she asked.

Porco frowned and stood up.

"Texas? Why? What happened?" he asked.

Evelyn sighed and wiped some of her tears off her face.

"My mom died. I have to go for her funeral." she said calmly.

Porco was shocked. He moved to Evelyn and lightly held on to her face. He swiped his thumbs across her cheeks, wiping away her tears.

Porco then pulled her into a sweet hug. She held on to him but didn't cry. Evelyn breathed softly, she seemed calm.

"I'm sorry, Evelyn." he said.

Evelyn placed her hands on his chest and pushed back slightly.

"Don't be. She didn't want me to be upset over her death. But she did ask that I go to her funeral." Evelyn said.

Porco sighed and looked away from her for a second.

"Look, I don't know about going to Texas. I didn't know your mom, I don't want to disrespect her in any way." he said.
