"remember the good times we had?"

***

THEIR RELATIONSHIP DETERIORATED AFTER EVELYN'S FAMILY FELL APART. When she left, she left behind everything.

Her school, her family, and her best friend.

Niccolo. Her best friend.

Her best friend that she shut out the moment her life went to shit.

"You're here! In Austin!" Niccolo exclaimed happily.

He quickly engulfed Evelyn in a tight hug. She stood still for a moment, unsure of what she was supposed to do.

"But I left you. I left everything. I cut you out. Why are you happy to see me?" she thought to herself.

Evelyn then realized how grateful she should be.

She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him back. He began to laugh in excitement and nearly picked her up.

"I'm so sorry, Nico! I'm so, so, so sorry!" Evelyn shouted as she clung on to him tightly.

Niccolo frowned and pulled away from Evelyn. She looked distressed and somewhat confused.

"What? What are you sorry for?" he asked.

"I shut you out after my family fell apart. I completely ignored you and stopped talking to you. I left Austin without saying goodbye. I skipped your wedding and ignored your calls. I don't deserve to have you be happy to see me. " Evelyn said.

Niccolo shook his head and put his hands on his hips.

"Oh come on, you think I would really be upset with you over that? Don't worry about it, Evey, I'm just glad that I got to see you again!" Niccolo said.

Evelyn sighed and grinned at her best friend. Porco was shocked, this was all so sudden and he could hardly keep up.

Niccolo turned to Porco and held out his hand.

"I'm Niccolo. Are you her boyfriend?" he asked.

Porco shook his hand and shook his head.

"No, I'm her roommate. Nice to meet you." Porco said.

Niccolo smiled and turned back to Evelyn.

"Come get dinner with us! We're headed to my friend's restaurant just a few blocks down from here." Niccolo said.

"Didn't you guys just eat?" Evelyn asked, pointing to the woman who was licking barbecue sauce clean off the stick.

"Oh, no. Sasha just wanted a snack."

The four sat at a dinner table and waited for the food they ordered. Niccolo had introduced his wife Sasha and there was a lot of catching up happening.
